  1. Personally I think everyone here on this board that I've had the chance to rock out with has more cred than Grohl. Why? Don't even have to answer that. Moving on.
  2. A stone fact indeed. I still hold that if Grohl is sincere in his judgement of the digital domain vs. tape there is only one road to travel. But he won't go there of course and why should he. It's not really a medium issue it's a monetary issue. Rock is getting squeezed big time by all the other stuff being put out. I was serious about Taylor Swift and giving her some credit for working on her singing skills. But calling her out for last years debacle and general inability to sing on key previously was not being mean, jealous or envyous as stated in the stupid song.. Just honest. What I find nauseating is how serious they all seem to take themselves at these awards shows. It's just entertainment folks. They're giving out awards for entertainment.YAY for them.
  3. I found his comments relevent but I'm fairly certain nobody "in the business" gives a shit. So I agree with MC's assertion that he was polishing his own balls to the tv audience. I'll bet he goes right back to digital for the next album. I'm not sorry I missed the Nikki whatever her name is shlock. I got bored and switched the channel to something entertaining - Finding Bigfoot. No risk of taking anything too serious there. However I was impressed with the sassy spanking handed out by Taylor Swift singing Why Ya Gotta be Mean or whatever it was. She actually made it through without going off key this year! Boy she really showed us! I know, I know, I'm just jealous that I can't be up there with them. Yeaaa.. that's the ticket!
  4. It's ear candy but I like it for several reasons. I like the sound he's got going. It reminds me of the old stuff. I like the lyrical content in that they're having fun with pop culture and they look like it. It's got some dynamics which is nice to hear in any rock song these days. Daves moves are damn good for an old geezer. I like the way they're coming across in the vid. Like the party band they used to be but in a more mature way. It's an encouraging step forward (to me) for something that was hard to be optimistic about for a long time. I'm looking forward to more.
  5. Love it. It's perfectly understated. Or totally delusional. Thanks MC.
  6. +1... the covers we do are just jams with words inserted..have at it... nothing more to say.
  7. No stress Murkat we'll get it all figured out.
  8. If nobody else wants to do it I'll give the AC/DC vocals a shot. I've done them before but prefer it to be at the end of my slot for obvious reasons.
  9. I can sing Rock n Roll Hoochie. I will step aside on Paranoid. No need for 2 vocals on that one. Glad to see it's heating up.
  10. Joe Holland (earachemyeye) E. Bethel MN attending both events.
  11. All of the songs listed by Shredmeister (4 ) are open to as many guitars as we can fit. If you want take a lead break, sing lead, harmony thats cool too. It looks like we've got drums and bass covered. We did this last year and it was a blast. There's more info in the pinned thread. I'm sure they'll be some more tunes thrown together prior to the jam.
  12. ......And you should come there and play bass, guitar, drums and um sing too. Come to think of it, none of the other Mpls. crew have uttered a peep. Where is KSFM? How about some of them rock drama songs. That would be cool. I got a feeling.....
  13. We're goin prog rock here are we? If you guys can play that Tempest tune I'll sing it.
  14. I'd love to do Godzilla. Shred, myself and others did Living after Midnight last year so that's not a problem. Doctor Doctor and Paranoid we have down also and I can sing on Mississippi Queen. Sure had a blast last time you were up Gene, looking forward to doing it again.
  15. Just Got Paid - love that tune. Dream Police is great also but heavy on synth. Think we could pull it off? If anybody plays keyboards well (i don't) I could bring mine. How about something 90's and newer? An instrumental jam sounds fun too, but maybe not too many chords. I really liked the 2 or was it 3 chord vamps that Chris, Dave and Funky did last year. It opens it up to a bunch of people getting in and showing their different chops. Maybe we could come up with the vamp ahead of time so folks can practice. This is gonna be fun.
  16. Looks like a good time. Oh Hell Yeah!!!
  17. I've got that Soundstage show saved. Those Zep tunes with 2 guitars were the sh*t even though they were strangely rearranged. I watched the Allison Krause gig too. Quite the mutation from the golden god of rock but he pulled it off flawlessly. I'm glad to see he's still at it and enjoying himself. I can't believe there's much money to be made. Is there?
  18. It's going to be a long cold winter...and then we're going to die.
  19. Looks good for me. I don't know what he means either.
  20. Too much time on my hands (dee doo dee doo dee doo) too much time on my haaaa-aaaands!
  21. Stupid band name anyway. Won't be long before they'll be in it I'm guessing.
  22. Maybe Axhole Rose is looking for a drummer.
  23. "and all the drama and controversy blah blah blah" - M. Shadows. I wonder what Sinister Gates has to say? Doesn't Zacky Vengence have anything to say? I guess I'll have to wait for the reality show to find out. DAMMIT! Joe
  24. Sorry to hear about this Brooks. Like all the others I hope you have a speedy recovery.
