  1. Hilarious-Maiden's Number of the Beast Unplugged:
  2. The Who, I have every studio album, 3 versions of Live at Leeds, live Tommy, Isle of Wight, about 4 of the post 80s live albums.
  3. I don't understand WCR's philosophy at all. How can he call one set of pickups "darkbursts" and another "crossroads" when the guitar they will eventually be put in and the amp they are played through mught not even remotely resemble that tone? Is he saying that "if you put my darkbursts in a vintage LP and play through vintage Marshalls, you will sound like Duane?" Or, "if you put my pickups in your double humbucker squier strat and play through a (insert crappy SS amp here), you will sound like Duane?" Talk about hype. I have only heard his pickups once, in a Les Paul through a Rivera Amp, and they didn't stand out in any way from the Duncans and Gibson pickups I was playing through the same amp. I'm not knocking the tone or quality of the WCRs, but I don't like the marketing hype or the way he is trying to capitalize on other people's tones. I hope hes paying royalties to Clapton and Duane's family.

  6. I would say very excellent-near mint.
  7. I just bought an older Pro Junior with the alnico speaker for cheap, and am selling my Blues Junior. I am willing to pass along some of my savings and let it go for $225+shipping. PM me if you are interested. It is a recent model, 2003 I believe, in the black tolex with original tubes and speaker. I have known quite a few players who gig with the Pro and the Blues Jr., both mic'd and un mic'd and they alsways sound good.
  8. Can I make things all better by buying the guitar for my max bid? The only thing I wanted to avoid was getting sniped at the last minute. For years, I have been bidding on auctions the legit way and I NEVER win. For example, I had been looking for a Boss Chorus for a year, and any one that i bid on, I end up getting sniped on by like $5. And thats just for a crappy pedal. I had a bid on the Sunburst that just got pulled as well. I can cite many other cases like this. Know this-I would gladly resubmit by max bid, but I won't do it until the end, if the seller can get over this petty action. I never wanted to, or even thought about "exposing" the guy's reserve. I don't think he will have any trouble reaching that reserve, as others have said. Negative comments on this board, to me, are laughable. I have been reading this board for a long time, and I've seen so much BS that doesn't even compare to retracting a bid on an eBay auction. I have sold some great guitars to many members here, and I have not had one complaint about any one of them-if I have, I would gladly buy them all back. So, I may not be perfect, like Jisham, and all the other mud-slingers here, but I can live with that. Its only a guitar.
  9. Stevemec, You were being a greedy sonofabitch, and you deserve what you got, and it was pretty funny! Thought I fessed up to that on the board, maybe not?
  10. getting sniped or not....why bid, then retract ? spend your conscience and you cant lose right ? its not like you werent able to contact the seller to authenticate. NO 4 DIGIT FOR YOU.... Yes, and no red bound and crowned sunburst for you.
  11. Hey jackass, I didnt retract my bid to expose your reserve or whatever. I would gladly give you $3000 for that guitar and even pick it up and pay you in person. I dont want to get sniped at the end of the auction, as is usually the case. If you dont want me to bid on your guitar, so be it. Its only wood and strings and another will come around soon. Riffmonger-I dont know why you are comparing this to whatever happened on that other auction, I never even heard that story.
  12. If the choice is between a USA Gibson and a Korean Hamer, I say go with gibson. The Korean Hamers are nice guitars, but a USA Gibson will hold its value on the used market. One day you will want to upgrade to a Hamer USA Standard. I've owned many Hamers, but only one Standard (Custom). It was easily the best of the lot, and by far the best Explorer type guitar I've ever seen or played. It rang like a bell unplugged and was an absolute tone monster plugged in. Playability was light years ahead of any Gibson you can buy today.
  13. Can you buy a set of duncan ultimates? I thought they were specially made.
  14. Jerry Garcia is the most underrated guitarist of all time. Occaisionally he pops up in one of the guitar mags, but he is rarely thought of as a great guitar player. Which he was. He is often written off as "noodler," but the truth is some of his solos are brilliant, melodic and he can shred when he wants to (in a jazz/country sense of the word). Frank Zappa could also play his arse off when he wanted to, but his personality was never the "guitar hero"
  15. That was very classy. Have you considered therapy?
  16. Thats the thing. Playing in blues jams has definitely increased my confidence as a player, and is a great way to learn new songs. MCCHris, you are right-that was a fun jam as a whiole, but someone should have cut this guy off. Truth be told, he was a great player, thats why I think he was tolerated.
  17. MCChris, Everyone wants to put on a good show, but don't advertise "Open Blues Jam-Guitarists Welcome, Amps provided" and all that stuff if you don't intend to call people up on stage. A good jam should feature the house band with alternating guitarists, bass players, and singers. Many people who go to Blues jams are not in full time bands, they just go for the experience of playing live. In all the jams I have been to, I never saw just one guy ruin a song.
  18. I used to attend a regular Thursday night jam with some guys who work at a local music store. No egos, just playing fun songs and getting everyone involved. One night a friend of the jam "leader" came in. He was a Berkley trained musician-real nice guy, helluva player AND he brought his own Laptop to record the show. He got up played about two songs when another guitarist was invited up. This other guitarist brought 2 guitars, 2 amps and a huge effects board that he carried in on a hand truck. After watching this jerk set up for 15 minutes, his drummer and bass player arrive and he turns to the Berkley guy and says, do you mind if we play as a trio? Berkley steps down and this guy goes through his whole act, stage banter and all, while everyone else got hung out to dry. Good thing they had pool tables and a bar at the place.
  19. Pickup swapper here. Big fan of the RIO BBQ, Duncan JB, DiMarzio VPAFs. I have some Fender Custom Shop pickups as well.
  20. When I saw Jol Dantzig on the Hamer tour someone asked him why Hamer no longer makes strat style guitars. He answered that they couldn't make them as good as Anderson.
  21. Here's some sloppy riffing into a Reverend Kingsnake. This and the Hellhound are great amps for half the price of a Dr. Z. Keep in mind that I just intended to see if I could record my guitar using the built in mic on my iBook. http://www.soundclick.com/util/downl...key=950C3A50-7
  22. That jam sounded great-I like the main riff! Nice tone also, is that a JB in the phantom custom?
  23. There's a rebirth of shred? Where?
  24. I've gone through about 30 guitars in the last 4-5 years trading on eBay and stuff. Most of the deals I have just tried to make my money back. And I know some good people got some good guitars out of it. Occaisionslly I have run into used guitars that I know were underpriced and I have flipped them on eBay for a profit. But its funny, the last guitar that I bought to flip was a '65 Gibson Melody Maker. I put it on eBay, it didn't sell but I'm glad I kept it-its one of my favorites. Totally smokes!
