What's this Hamer Relic worth?
acb replied to Bruce's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
new member first post selling an import priced beyond reason claiming it as relic wow, impressively bad form btw welcome to the HFC. bruce, here is your reality check: go to ebay and search HAMER. many imports available, examine the range of pricing that draws bids for ANY of the imports listed. -

The First Tone That Made You Say... "Whoa!"
acb replied to Hamerhack's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Jimmy Page -- Heartbreaker. The track is a dictionary of '59LP tones at its best. First song our circle of friends cranked up and destroyed a few stereo speakers. -

was that last dude missing a chromosome? were his eyes below his nose or something? yikes seriously, the show is a bunch of wannabe posers hamming it up for a one-off opportunity. pretty boyz + silicon girlz screaming look at me. equally embarassing are desper-rockers like tommylee selling out for commercial tvtime. singers 20 years younger than the rest of the so-called band assembly is one way to suckseed. i wish my wife wouldn't put that crap on the tele. i gotta start reading books again.

sad when you see someone with respectable hands-on guitar design & finish talent implode like this. some people just don't get it. its all about gratitude, not attitude. too many paint fumes?

the rosin which music stores sell is often shaped like a small wheel - it will look "black" with a smooth surface. ROUGH IT UP WITH A METAL FILE so that it has crystal-like jagged edges. the rough rosin dust crystals will adhere to the horsehair on the bow better. if you are still having trouble getting the violin to make sound, remember to drag and push the bow ACROSS the strings, not parallel on top of the strings... :-)

microEconomics101, its all about supply and demand bro. same as you, others are always looking for the best deal, not as an investment, but for a player. you get a taste by bottom hunting and think the formula is an easy one. guitars are not high on the liquidity scale, there is maintenance and opportunity/timing added into the equation. in general, appreciation takes time with an expanding supply. parts tend to be a crap shoot unless you have strong demand and run your own workbench. try finding satisfied buyers for your inventory a few times and you might discover it is not THAT easy. get stuck with one or two losses which eat the profit squeezed elsewhere and you'll scratch your head. two rules seem to be a constant: 1. one man's pleasure is another man's pain 2. most of the time YOU get what YOU pay for, same as everybody else.

m-o-r-e.....v-i-n-t-a-g-e.....g-u-i-t-a-r-s... eat'em up, eat'em up. kiz is holding out on us. you heard that right. until the first wave of show-and-sell is over, we're not going to see the top shelf. just my theory... if you've been eyeing the remaining goodies... you know you want to -

Spoofin' hillarious Jimmy Fallon as Jack White Drew Barrymore as Meg White 02.14.04 Saturday Night Live Clip 6.2mb dl

Jack White is a talented musician... the White Stripes recordings are a showcase of his talent. Not a hoax, just an expression. His production skills are also first class - listen to Loretta Lynn/Van Lear Rose.

time is the only healing, wishing you peace. going through the same here.

Without passing any judgement, it is easy to say that Heroin hurt your music collection. Imagine what could have been if Heroin didn't disable some of your music heroes. How many MORE classic riffs would Keith Richards kick out? I saw Clapton perform in 1974 while he was still addicted -- one of the WORST shows I ever sat through, he had no energy for himself, the record company, or the audience for over a decade. Johnny Thunders - now THAT is a stretch. Jimmy Page dabbling with the needle and the occult - neither one was very productive. Name any artist and the answer is the same. Heroin is an ugly period of life. Don't be fooled by romanticising artists who managed to stay alive... they are the minority.

Hamer Sunburst 7 0012, lean and clean, bound and crowned, no known mods. Swwweeeeeeeeettt. I purchased this guitar in 1985. I was surprised to find it on display at a local Sam Ash music store - it was one of the guitars a high school friend/musician owned; another music store he managed was one of the first authorized Hamer reps in NYC. He played locally, did some studio work… this guitar saw action before he traded it to upgrade his gear. I played it for a few years recreationally and stashed it when I made the big mistake (a.k.a. first marriage) and stopped playing electric, more recently kicking around on acoustic. This guitar has been sitting under a staircase for nearly ten years. I was pleasantly surprised to discover an active Hamer Lunatik Club - I’ve had a few good laughs reading through the message threads (some funny personalities here). The initial message I posted about this guitar was lost in the recent crash; thought I’d repost and share a few pictures. This guitar is not for sale or trade. Sincere thanks to several HFC forum members who shared information about this guitar. I encourage you and others to add your knowledge to this thread. Feel free to add your own vintage porn and information about early Hamer instruments and production. Gratitude not attitude :-)

Any new groups that play like in the 70's 80's?
acb replied to billhart22's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
the days of melodic rock are gone... for now. too few talented musicians who let the music to speak for itself. put the blame on mtv. listen to jazz instead :-)
