  1. I miss my Kramer Nightswan. Bought one of the newer Buddy Blaze K2 imports with a 24 5/8" scale...not the same.
  2. I was kind of leaning that way........if it was 100% original, it would have been different. Thanks for your thoughts on it.
  3. Just started to work on the SS1 that was my gift to myself this Christmas. Everything is good on it, except 3 fine tuners are stiff and tight, with the one on the B string only moving about a turn or so. I used some of the penetrating oil we use at work (PB Blaster), and it helped, but it`s still not as free as I would like it. I`m looking at two options right now: 1 trying to back out the fine tuner completely, and cleaning up both threads with a tap and die set that I have access to. 2 get another baseplate with the fine tuners on it from Schaller, they have always taken care of my needs and problems from Germany. It would have the Schaller logo on it, but it`s an upgrade IMO. Any of the HFC Brothers have a fix for this? Thanks in advance
  4. This was the one I remember from Headbanger`s Ball, liked the song, but wasn`t sold on going out and buying the whole album.... http://youtu.be/0MFm8_4lujM
  5. Two of my faves: The snow white SS From 2:40 to 3:00....nuff said
  6. I bought a Robin Ford cassette years ago, never listened to it all the way through......
  7. Unless you have an over-the-stove style microwave, you can pick up one fairly inexpensively (not cheaply), a decent 1100 watter should be around $100 or so......
  8. 1) Hollowskull 2) Short scale Chappy....with some type of rare feature, color, pick up layout, etc 3)Short scale SS2 ...same deal as above
  9. Glad to see you are improving......chainsaws show no mercy......I have a friend who was seriously hurt in a saw accident 20+ years ago. He lived, but was never the same afterwards. Keep on healing up.....
  10. The "Nobody Said it was Easy" CD is still one of my favorites for the disc player in the truck. In the same vein is Nashville Pussy, Junkyard and Masters of Reality for me
  11. I`m big into the Steve Stevens, so: One from every year of production, both the SS1 and SS2 lines... I have a pair of 85`s so I have that year covered A custom SS1 or 2 in some way, shape or form, LED`s, graphics, something that sets it apart, ala the Tommy Williams one somebody has and then: a case/closet/underbed queen in mint shape, any style a Prototype or Phantom a 25th anniversary an early short scale neck-thru Chappy as a pipe dream, one of the first thousand ones made
  12. It`s been re-listed.......$100 more than before http://www.ebay.com/itm/1987-Hamer-Steve-Stevens-Rare-Pink-Finish-/110782436065?pt=Guitar&hash=item19cb25d2e1
  13. Okay, a little follow up on my post on here. I e-mailed Schaller about a baseplate, and they told me to send them $20 (cash through the mail, which I was a little hesitant about) and they would send me a baseplate. It was waiting for me tonight in the mailbox when I got home from work. It had the fine tuners on it and had the saddle bolts with it, and is one of the newer ones with the steel inserts under the bolts so it won`t strip out like the earlier ones. Have to give them props for coming through............. The D and G saddles should be the highest ones on the trem, it should look like steps going down from the middle out on both sides if you are looking at it from the front. I bought a Chappy a couple of years ago where the former owner put pieces of guitar strings under the saddles to shim them up........
  14. That`s easier said then done, I have a Diablo with the same problem, and the couple of online places I deal with (Warmoth, Stew-Mac, Allparts) sell everything for a Schaller but the baseplate. I sent an e-mail to Schaller to see if they can tell me who to get one from......
  15. I called Dimarzio this morning, the tech support guy recommended a PAF Pro or the Steve Morse bridge as something similar to the Hamer Slammer. I might keep it in for the time being, I really like the sound of it. I`m used to the hotter Duncans (Dimebuckers, Invaders, TB-6`s) so it`s a change of pace for me. I still am thinking of switching out the middle pick-up for a stacked humbucker, either another hot rail or a cool rail. I`m kind of hoping the white hardware grows on me, my first thought was to swap it out for black tuners and a trem. It`s different, I remember you could get Kahler`s in the 80`s in different colors. I`ll just have to find another white one to mess with........ Serial..... the serial # on the back is 513836.
  16. I didn`t want to hijack another thread, But I just picked up a 1985 Hamer SS1 that has all sorts of dings and dents and imperfections, but plays very smooth. I pulled the pick-ups out of it yesterday, and it has a Duncan hot rail in the neck, and it looks like the original middle single coil and humbucker are in it. It`s the old style humbucker before F-spaced ones came out, so the pole pieces don`t line up correctly over the strings. but it does have Hamer Guitars stamped on it. Does anybody have any ideas what the F-spaced modern equivalent would be of that pick-up? Thanks in advance...... my new-to-me SS...... http://s148.photobucket.com/albums/s15/kev...sCDRacks012.jpg
  17. I have an idea it was bright white, I can see it in the trem cavity and underneath the black of the headstock, kinda doubt it`s white primer.........I am going to leave the neck natural with a light oil finish, but haven`t decided what color to do the body yet, figured I would get it together and play it a bit before shipping it out for finish work....... Bone, on your red one that you are restoring, you said that the pick-ups were too hot on it for your tastes, what are going to put in it? I`m thinking of a Duncan JB trembucker in the bridge, and maybe a hot rail in the neck and a cool rail in the middle.........serial had an OBL 900 on evilbay a couple of weeks ago that I missed out on, I like the look of rail pickups for some reason.......
  18. Oops, forgot the back picture, sorry.....it`s maple. http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff129/h...HamerSS1004.jpg
  19. The guy that had it before me told me he taped off the fretboard to paint it and then left the tape on it for a couple of months, which left a lot of residue on the fingerboard and frets. He took a razor blade and scraped most of the stuff off, but it has all sorts of little hack marks and one noticeable gouge in the wood. And it could use a good fret dress, too. I live about 75 miles from BCR, so taking it to Greg wouldn`t be a major problem. Let me know how your decal comes out, I`ve though a couple of times about trying to find someone to do a stadium logo for it to go over the spots that are missing. I have the gold Schallers, a backplate I got from Alpep years ago, and within a few weeks will be looking for a Floyd for it. I`m not sure what I want to do pick-up wise on it yet, either. http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff129/h...HamerSS1001.jpg http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff129/h...HamerSS1002.jpg http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff129/h...HamerSS1003.jpg http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff129/h...HamerSS1007.jpg http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff129/h...HamerSS1008.jpg http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff129/h...HamerSS1009.jpg
  20. Seriously cool, I have one in the same shape minus the headstock repair, but with some fretboard issues that I`m not sure how to tackle without going to see Uncle Greg.......
  21. I still listen to Fair Warning, VH one and VH two a couple of times a year...just because they are good records with good songwriting that has held up over the last 25+ years...my favorite obscure Halen song is "Somebody Get Me a Doctor".......
