  1. First album. Love all the Van Halen. 5150/OU8120 are fun. Don't care for the rest of the Van Hagar - although a particular song may catch my ear. First album was a complete jolt. Once minute you're listening to something like "Love to Love You Baby" or "Sky Rockets in Flight" and the next thing you know...well, you know.
  2. Reminds me of what the red metallic vinyl fabric on the seats of a tilt-a-whirl must've looked like when new.
  3. Tone report, please. I'm very intrigued by this contraption.
  4. +1 ugly. But sounds practical. Would you go with neck and bridge? I think I'd try to go with the neck and see how far I got with that. Neck single coil tones are my favorite strat sounds; clean or dirty the P-90 sound off a neck pick up is cool. When I want to rawk - a JB bridge humbucker is ready to go.
  5. Looking at the title of the thread, John Entwistle's name popped in my head. He certainly had technical skill. From an energy on stage perspective (which is an oxymoron to some ol' school bassists) I saw STP live and their Robert DeLeo brought a hell of a lot of energy to the performance. And what about Robert Trujillo of Metallica? He's got presence and the chops.
  6. With sites like this, who really needs advertising. They want to stay small and put out "boutique" guitars. Cool beans. Bigger ain't better - just look at General Motors and Ford about the pursuit of volume. I think their "glory" days are right now. I would like to see more innovative guitars like the Talladega and I have to give more credit to the Monaco line than I have in the past - although every time I look at one I think of the Beluga whale's forehead or, if I've been listening to Wham and looking at Kizanski's signature , the image of the Pac-Man comes to mind.
  7. That kinda graphic seems like a natural for a Vee, don't you think? +1... Or a derivative of the Confederate flag - ala the General Lee - on a Vee.
  8. I gotta agree with you, LOTT. A lot of this might have to do with all of us being so jaded that it's just hard to impress us anymore, but I also can't say that there's one thing in their display that I look at and think, "I'd like to have one of those." A display at NAMM really helps sell it doesn't it? I wish they could've gone the Huber route and staged the guitars in a way that was a little more flattering. Even black velvet draped over the display wall would've helped make the finish of those guitars pop a little more.
  9. Oh yes... it is! SCHWINNGG!
  10. Condolences and prayer for you and your family.
  11. Thanks! This one is nice. I picked it up from a guy in TX. But who knows how he got it. Very fun to play. But GAS is building, so...
  12. bump...and a price drop to $500.
  13. Very cool. Let's see pics when it's all done!
  14. +1 MM You've got to wonder about the mental state of people who thought that up and the "actors." Jackass was funny. This isn't.
  15. Allright dangnabbit! I'm a sucker for just this kind of stuff. 'm ordering a copy of Guitar People off of Amazon.com tonight.
  16. You could have written the Wikipedia article on CS. Very impressive.
  17. Actually, that's not quite correct. Anybody can make a claim about anything.
  18. So is JM with his technical ability and face contortions, just a modern day Carlos Santana? (duck)
  19. +1 on the Talladega. Its got the b@lls! G&L makes a very good Tele. +1 on your cork sniffing comment.
  20. These guys are a lot of fun to hear and watch. If they make it to Philly, I'm going.
  21. When you get bored, i'll be happy to pay you $400 for it.
  22. John Mayer...Plays nice pop songs; Dates hotties. A guitar hero? ...stop the ride, I want to jump off. As I get older, I choose not to connect with popular culture more and more.
  23. How about a trade for a Vector/Mirage II in similar condition? Let me know.
