  1. very inspiring...I will help out in any way, including hunting the bully down and kickin' his ass...I know, I know,...but sometimes that is all a bully can understand-I used to bounce in the bars I played in, so if anyone here needs some security, just let me know! ...good people here 4 sure-impressed ,guys!
  2. sweet!!I am a recent Clutch disciple-the dvd "Full Fathom Five" is kickin' my arse-"Dragonfly", "The Devil And Me" and "Soapmakers" really stand out to me! ...and on an Adam Jones note, I recently ran a triple rec and a Coli 2C+ together via a Lehle pedal and a bunch of EV Thiele's...oh yeah!about 70% Coli and 30% rec and it was TOOL heaven..pure prison sex ...and also diggin' some Andy Timmons "Resolution" , along with some Band of Horses ,Steve Trovato, and some ARS ,baby!!!BARRY BAILEY could be the most unsung guitarslinger this side of the Mason Dixon-rock on
  3. an amp/cooler.....you know, a cooler on the back side with neon lights...holds 12 brews....the refrigeration keeps the tubes cooled off/no need for a fan... and 2 chicks to keep the cooler well stocked,of course ...ok,back to reality..how about a fulltone deja vibe?..and a Leslie cab..and a lefty Firebird(methinks there is no such animal)??
  4. Hi Turdus - I couldn't help notice the obvious... that Skunk was standing during that video from '75. By the time I saw the Doobies in '76 or '77, he was already seated. At the time, that didn't strike me as exactly guitar heroic.Did he develop a physical condition that put him on that stool or was it his "idiom"? no physical condition...your MMV, but I dig Skunk ala Steely Dan/"My Old School" and "Rikki" kick ass
  5. cool! Goober went to UNA and taught school at Hazel Green High( up here in MAdison county...)..NW Alabama loves them some goober(..c'mon, no Gomer jokes....!)
  6. ...was this in Florence,Al...??
  7. agree with Polara-its like rock with the Nashville polish..the "Big and Rich" of the radio modern rock world??give me some Clutch any day
  8. ...I long to play in a cover band with a hot chick singer,or...better yet...Allison from Chelsea Girls (ultimate cover band)as my co-guitarist: ..yep, hot chicks.....people roll out to see hot chicks
  9. I always liked Axl's speaking voice better than his singin'....and Neil FAllon from Clutch has got that voice thang happenin'...gots to be GreG Allman, however, for my no.1
  10. gotta say I am diggin' the Crowes new one...as well as Gov"t Mule's new one
  11. that sweet ass candy apple red Tele I was watching on the bay...THE one owned by Elliot Easton-I talked myself out of it, and I think it bid out at 2300-2400 bucks....it haunts me, but I did discover Tom Anderson afterwards(I bought a drop top Hollow T to make up for my remorse, and I am very happy!)
  12. thanks...still on a "high" since I saw them last month
  13. Stevie Wonder-"I'd Never Dreamed You'd Leave By Summer"...forgot about this one/saw him perfrom during the MJ Memorial...Stevie !
  14. "the drugs don't work"..The Verve...covered by Ben Harper.....WHAT?....THE DRUGS DON'T WORK??? ...talk about sad....
  15. ..haaa!!Little JD was in Tootsie's(Nashvegas) one afternoon while I was playing in the back room-he walked in and my partner actually knew a LJD song...he said, "get in E.."..we did it..and LJD walked to the front of the stage...didnt even move...dropped a 20 into the jar and out the door he went..all dressed up in that flashy suit! ...another sad one-"Pick Me Up"..Ryan "Don't Call me Bryan" Adams...not really sad, but it has a yearning, wistful, wan ,melancholy, etc vibe
  16. jASON ISBELL-"Dress Blues"...a must listen/true story about a high school buddy killed in war ...gets me everytime-well done IMo...not too sappy/sentimental/political-just hits you in the gut
  17. with Mk II's, if you understand the shared controls, it doesnt a lot of tweaking I have sent mine back for the Mike B. touch, but hey, they were made in the 80's/knocking on wood, but all of mine have been in great shape/I do a lot of homework before plopping $$ on one/it pays off-I wouldnt buy one if I couldnt play through it/inspect/etc...but I have been very lucky in that respect/all buys have been local
  18. i am not selling my C's!!But, the V will be the gigger!!I like the crunch mode on channel 2/extreme reminds me of part rec/part mark...signature tone??nothing totally new to me/just loving the flexibility and the ability to let my sound shine through(whateverthehell that is...)the dynamics are good...very good(I owned a IV B and I like this better...NOT a IV slam, fellas!!helluva amp..it sounded a little sterile next to a C+..this sounds better to my ears...) -gonna do the 6L-EL combo next few days..stay tuned
  19. THE 10 WATT is killer on the clean channel-dime the gain ,flip her down into variac/tweed, and its a great class A style tone the manual would scare alot of cats away...60 plus pages/and a player needs to actually read those pages/if the amp looks like a cockpit to you, then the manual might look like WAR AND PEACE!..on 10 watt in chan 2/3, you gotta tweak it differently to avoid that "moosh"
  20. I own a V-disagree on several areas-I love the Mark series and this does not dissapoint the 10 watt setting shines on channel one-the amount of breakup really surprised me-if you play classic rock/blues/country, you can do it all with channel one or two I have a/b'd with a C+..so far, it pretty much nails it, at least on the lead channel(he doesnt strike me as someone who has played too many Marks..they need some dialing in,and you can easily get lost if you are a Mk noob...) -I have 2 buddies who owned a Mk 1-they say it nails the Mk I 10 watts just for bedroom playing??he DIDNT spend a lot of time with this amp-the 10 watts are plenty loud and sound sincredible with a Tom Anderson Hollow T,Les Paul Standard, Fender Strat, and my Hamer Cali as always, mileage varies, but this isnt a clone amp-its a workhorse IMO-my C+'s are going to be staying under lock and key while this goes to the smokey bars IIC+ plain weak??I a/b'd them, tweaked them(I own two C+'s...) plain weak my ass-his review is plain weak-bottom line, his op...but I would not give a "review" after a short time with an amp with so many options -I have spent approx. 12 hours with mine since I got it last week, and I am happy ..very happy so far ..as we all know, mileage will vary
  21. ..time to compile a big ol' stash o'tubes!
  22. sweet grab,Lockbody....love my strat as well....maybe you will get a chance to try her out thru my MK V when it gets here and we do the Great North Alabama Boogie Shootout!
  23. http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/stor...219205912.shtml ..possibly this...
  24. damn!!!missed this-only Gary,Ed, Artimus left?-man, thats rough...Hugie Thomasson died within the last year or two..Leon a few yrs ago-man, dont play with that heart, fellow members-I have a real bad heart condition that I found out about when I was 36....-40 now and still going, but heart research and care still has a long way to go-lots of eople dont want to go to doc, but get that blood work done..bp only is not enough -rock on,Billy Powell...always seemed like a cool cat who had it all under control-helluva life and legacy!
