  1. There might be cheaper ways to come to pieces of quartersawn maple.
  2. Just what you say, you are to late.
  3. I have never seen anything like this!
  4. Lower entry level with a MIK Standard. Pimped to Strat tone over time to bootlick the huge amount of alder.
  5. That's easy to answer. I don't have that many and they are all perfect. Talladega Newport Standard Custom
  6. There is a hidden gem going to be planned right now, to be finished later this year. No chance to play the game for me.
  7. What can an individual do to support the brand? One might feel like Don Quijote concerning Hamer's recent development up to the shutdown. It's the company that is in charge to run the business, not the customer. So for me, there is no reason to feel in any way guilty I might have not given my share. Even if I had only bought Hamers used or had bought an XT, I had made room for another person to order one new. I had shown my guitars to friends and this way had made advertising for the brand. This way my son accepted to buy his first Hamer Monaco, although, it is an XT. One time in the future he may be a potential buyer of a re-activated Hamer Custom.
  8. There are so many factors that decide on win or loose. So, for me it is hard to tell what made Hamer fail at the end. Think of the newer models, how many continuous awards Hamer had received for the new models, about 7 or so? That makes me think the newer models are not bad at all and brand perception was there. In contrast PRS, at least in Germany they are known for having pleasant sound, but nothing outstanding. Many people sell them just for the reason. It's not all perfect with PRS either. What about pricing? Quality PRS guitars are not cheap either. PRS run a cheaper line-up as well. Maybe it had been overall marketing activities and missing iconic guitarists playing them that were big factors. At least what I have learned, with proper marketing you can make nearly any dull product sell successfully.
  9. Then there was Andy Summers and the Prototype. Was it mentioned before? Is he a hero? The Police sure was heroic.
  10. Santana a hack? Somebody's having too much eggnog.... hack·neyed /ˈhaknēd/ Adjective (of a phrase or idea) Lacking significance through having been overused. That's about as close to a definition of Carlos Santana as you will ever find. The man is a repetitive as a broken record. 373 posts counting! I thought I had missed some posts in between. Went back one page and learned something new. Lacking significance that was for Hamer...RIP. What would be the difference if Uncle Carlos would have endorsed Hamer?
  11. All true! On the other hand there are still customers out there who like to be individual in that they prefer to order hand-made instruments, either for playing or collecting. There are many individualist luthiers out there creating great instruments for even great prices. My Red Special Bo Diddley project is a good example here. The question is, for a company like FMIC, would it be in a certain dimension profitable to run a custom shop like Hamer. For FMIC, a custom shop would have to turn round a certain amount of instruments to make sense for them. Well, with Hamer it obviously wasn't the case. You can speculate on the reasons.
  12. There is no reason prices should change. They will remain to stay relative to the original retail prices, possibly would add up on future inflation. There is enough Hamer history for today to backup the idea.
  13. Wow! I wanna see this twice. What a cool thing!
  14. I bought an iPad after the death of Stevie. It still works! Seriously, family style driven companies mostly suffer from leaving their founders. For Hamer this happened with the sale to Kayman. Implying that Hamer is not Hamer any more for over 20 years. I'm not following the argument. The custom shop brand could at anytime be reactivated and marketed. If you like it or not, but don't forget the XT line still is alive and provides guitars of very good quality for money.
  15. He said in the interview I did with him long ago that is on the site that he once wanted to buy part of Hamer. Eventually, that would have been a pour investment. And I don't think it would have helped for better.
  16. Sure they would. There is no reason not to answer. They know that at the final end we are all Strat guys. (Zorrow citing)
  17. I'm totally with you. I bought my first guitar, because I love Cheap Trick from my youth times on until today. And it was a MIK.
  18. The very important, eating from the 3m credit line will require to eventually pay any bite off! Then there is to make money for your personal wealth. Now it's you for the money making concept. We are easily in a price range of 2500 quit for a single guitar. Sorry, I'm destroying dreams...
  19. My son's playing Hamer Monaco XT. I've done my job though.
  20. In a dream, I would add my Red Special Bo Diddley theme to the line up and cut off the 80s line-up, develop the brand to distinct musical directions rather than the broad market. Keeping in mind that it would not be possible to compete with the big players. I'd re-configure the current line-up to have as few overlap as possible. Take any order as is - build to order. Strip production times from up to 2 years down to max 6 months, even 3 months on standards. I'd create a foreseeable time frame to receive the instrument and would try to communicate the building process not just to the public, but to the individual buyer. Employ modern social media. In essence build for a niche market in a modern way. In reality, I think 3 millions credit line to re-market the brand is not very much, considering that you would have to find a workshop and builders. They all reward their grant. It's got to sell quite a lot of guitars to make a living. So far I know, Jens Ritter is a 2 person shop. And he's eventually selling his basses and guitars for high prices. I really like the idea!
  21. Ruby red Standard, black binding, rosewood and crowns, sustain block bridge! Original headstock shape with stadium logo. I am strumming it already! Aahhh, and Shark had to wait 2 years for his FB bass.
  22. That's the better way to live.
  23. Meeting at Musikmesse sounds great but it's in APRIL next year Well, I wondered the bass would arrive until then. Now that it appears being happened, we could drink a beer and chat all over it.
  24. Andre, ich freue mich sehr für Dich!
  25. I don't want to say this, but, just so we're clear: I hate taking pictures. I've never made a video/extensively played someone's order before this. I just assume have them drop-shipped. Any pic or video of a custom order you see from me is always either requested or encouraged by the owner. Sorry if my comment were in any way confusing. I love the video and sure would expect presentations like this would be encouraged by the owner. It's just a very unusual event.
