How did you learn to play guitar (or bass)?
gorch replied to Feynman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Well, I had 6 months of classical guitar lessons when I was about 13 or so. I hated it since I ever wanted to go electric. The ability of notes reading and some basic aspects remained a stable. A 2nd pick-up of the old guitar at around 35 failed again. Eventually, the first electric at 39 kept me by the ball. Since I did not want to take the long learning curve most books go through, I thought of going a more structural way. Thanks to a Britsh chap I met in a project, I found everything in Fretboard Logic from Bill Edwards. Kal David's double DVD course lifted me up another level. The DVDs alone joined me in for almost 2 years. I feel, I'm pretty much round up for what I'm doing, but still have plenty to learn and practise. -
Greetings from a new member and long time Hamer owner.

What pulls you musically out of the emotional hole?
gorch replied to BlueRedWhite's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I had a faible for Aerosmith' Walk This Way to lift me up after strong working sessions. Satriani's Flying In A Blue Dream gets me going anytime I hear it. Best version to be found on the Satriani Live! CD. It's really flying. -
Alles Gute! Keep on playing!

Thought about some classy Dimarzio DP100s? -
Oh man, that looks really tasty. I don't know if we have different animals in Germany, but those steaks are massive. In case you have any sauce left, check it with Italian cheese and bread. Or add some creme and wine to it and create a tasty sauce for noodles. You may want to add some water too to keep it fluid. It might need some additional salt since the sauce was created for German BBQ style where we use salt and pepper on the meat. Therefore, the recipe have been kept on lower salt level. Those are lovely pictures. I'll go and tell my wife. Would you mind to add one pic to the 64397 FB page? Thanks a zillion man. All the best to your family. It looks like the guitar have been bulletproofed by BlueRedWhite already. The sound is fantastic, the options are endless when you add effects to the sound. Series wiring to me is highly underrated. I'm happy you guys like it and you Zorrow found a great guitar builder with Ronny.
-
Look at that. Zorrow even has a V acoustic guitar in the house. I'm happy the guitar finally arrived save and sound at your doors. The pleasure is on my side having been allowed to have the guitar in my house before it had arrived at yours. The finish is still fresh and alive. Ronny told me that the guitar will look different in a year or so. I had discovered the drops myself and rang him in the background though. Zorrow, porn us with a couple of shots before it gets soaked into continuus playing.

First I have to google who George Lynch is. Why to care about George Lynch? You only need to buy that pickup. -

So, what's the serial number of the guitar on the front cover? Don't answer, it's in the book.

Awesome pics!! In the book? -
Well, the thing is there is nothing to discuss. The idea is great. My saying: Pics or it doesn't count.

Is it all in the book? -
Well, does this video contain the correct pronounciation of Matthes? That's just the mysterious female spy who Steve whispered all his Hamer info to in dark London pub, as she typed his manuscript. After a few pints, no one can pronounce his name, even British 007 voice bots.I'm surprised the cover author credit didn't just say "Not Chris." That must have been quite a whispery as far as she comes over tonally.

Well, does this video contain the correct pronounciation of Matthes?I don't need the book then.

...and I was stupid enough not to buy new camera to make quality pics of mine. Now I have that camera. 2nd volume planned?

Yep! I more or less stopped playing guitar for the two years I worked at MOTU. Crazyi busy, and since I was working with music gear all day I wanted nothing to do with it when I got home.My skills are marginally improving, thanks in part to taking my first batch of lessons in several years. Which is to say, once I incorporate these lessons my skills will remain flat for a while kand then decline again until the next set of lessons (for my 60th birthday, perhaps?). Have you ever seen the guy baking hamburgers at McDonalds eating hamburgers? I think that explains it.

It's simply a matter of time for me to work things out. Then comes the ability to play my own stuff. Never mind some one like to listen.
