Some years ago I heard a Jobs bio audio book. There in saying it was Jobs who actually had the contract for the IBM PC with the Next OS before Gates came into play with DOS. It had been a management move that finally made DOS the formal OS for the PC. Jobs got payed and went his way. We could have saved a lot of time and hassle though. -

Exactly!I would be thrilled if Prince smashed one of my guitars.Would you be thrilled if he slept with your wife? Would there be cuddling?I had given him my Import with a chance to receive a better guitar in a compensation move. -

I know of a couple of repair docs who'd love to help him out to fix it. Greg? Murkat? Someone feels missed out? -
Totally cool man! What are the plans for the Hofner bass?

Considering the electronic knowledge at the time, I agree to the randomness of effects of the time period. Fender guitars are the Ford T of guitars. The amp circuits where loose and cranked easily. What's called magic here is that a rebellish youth taking drugs had cranked amps in flush using affordable guitars playing to other youth people. Silver today, those former youth remembers good times now paying a shit load to pull back memorabilias to sweeten retirement. I'd say it was and is a golden age. -
Fantastic record btw. I love it.

Soon they'll be shredding in the womb

The 9 year old sounds quite regular to me. We've brought 3 boys through the same process, one on the same instrument. It all depends on the repertoire you go through. Our boys all started at age of 6. At nine they were sounding quite similar. Once the guitar teacher said to me that up until 9 the brain still needs to develop rhythm comprehension. That's the reason for the mechanic impression on childish playing. Our youngest boy, 9 actually, struggles quite some timing problems he won't be able to get rid of until he grows it out. If you are in the same situation with your children, be patient. -
Alles Gute miteinander?

Said this and got a like for it.

Actually, I grew up with them. If they were dangerous, I should be dead by now. On the other hand I don't have one in the house for 30 odd years and still don't miss them. So, what's the point here?

The list of downgrades confuses me. Wouldn't the Appreciation Threads fulfill your desires? You'd save a ton of extra dollars after all. -

Hairy mouth, top or bottom, I don't care. In my opinion I think she's doing quite well. And I wouldn't want to mess with her. Who's gonna play that lick? -

Is this one of the reasons why Hamer is going away?
gorch replied to crunchee's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Select or Signature. It's all marketing crap nobody really needs but desires because life would be boring without a bit of fun. I don't have fun. I play Hamers. -

There is a hidden gem going to be planned right now, to be finished later this year. No chance to play the game for me. -

What can an individual do to support the brand? One might feel like Don Quijote concerning Hamer's recent development up to the shutdown. It's the company that is in charge to run the business, not the customer. So for me, there is no reason to feel in any way guilty I might have not given my share. Even if I had only bought Hamers used or had bought an XT, I had made room for another person to order one new. I had shown my guitars to friends and this way had made advertising for the brand. This way my son accepted to buy his first Hamer Monaco, although, it is an XT. One time in the future he may be a potential buyer of a re-activated Hamer Custom. -

There are so many factors that decide on win or loose. So, for me it is hard to tell what made Hamer fail at the end. Think of the newer models, how many continuous awards Hamer had received for the new models, about 7 or so? That makes me think the newer models are not bad at all and brand perception was there. In contrast PRS, at least in Germany they are known for having pleasant sound, but nothing outstanding. Many people sell them just for the reason. It's not all perfect with PRS either. What about pricing? Quality PRS guitars are not cheap either. PRS run a cheaper line-up as well. Maybe it had been overall marketing activities and missing iconic guitarists playing them that were big factors. At least what I have learned, with proper marketing you can make nearly any dull product sell successfully.
