Clearly ELO didn't get the memo when they released "Out of the Blue," a double album of pure crap. Clearly a matter of taste. Taking at is, the crap have been digitally remastered and once again sold. Is that criminal? Or take Queen i.e. They went to another publisher (Island - Universal) that then re-released the old albums again. Is that criminal? Since they became popular through the advertisement investments of their prior publisher EMI. Island now earns of popularity they did not develop. Shouldn't EMI receive royalties from sales through Island?

I wonder this thread wasn't closed already. Someone may have said this before. Preferably, I buy CDs and in return receive cases with booklets to look at and include liner notes. Old fashioned, I know, but earning the musician more than a download and giving me more than a download.

Not necessarily, a teacher today would be able to produce his peace of art on free software in his home and even print and burn the medium to materialize or load it all up for free. What's the value talking money respectively when it was almost free equipment being used except the necessity of hardware involved? Andy McKee certainly is this type of "teacher". At least as far as I know, he started from the low. Supposedly he makes a good living with the online marketing model. I have seen him 5 or 6 years ago in Germany, playing for a dime in a church hall with 2 other bands/artists before him. At the time his downloads went into millions already since he was announced being successful that way. The friend who took me to the venue is a classical music teacher and wondered how Andy could live from the live proceeds I remember.

However, the copyright battle is not limited to the music business. It's a general issue in the online community. Free Internet is one thing that relates to freedom in general. Freedom certainly does not mean behavior has no relation to respect. Unequal international copyright laws certainly support infringement, but not all.

Once I had a failed trade with a fellow here. I had been asking on the board for someone willing to step in for an Ebay item sold within conus only. The auction went well for me and the volunteer said he'd won the auction. He'd never sent it over the pond. After a few PMs I had given up. Eventually, I had no financial damage to cope with. Other than that I had some very nice and trustful deals and contacts made here that easily out-pace the broken one.
