Brooks Posted January 5 Posted January 5 (edited) I usually go for less to mid blingy. Tried a few swiss-army-knife setups but they didn't last for too long. I change gear up to fit whatever gig or project I'm into at the moment. SGs & Fenders (both w/ Kahlers) back in the 80s, LP then Hamers in the 90s for cover gigs. Duotone for ~15 years of acoustic gigs and most of Generic Hustles 6 year run. 2010s came the superstrats for Ded Mullet, the Rush tribute, and a few other hard rawk gigs. Been doing solo jazzy gigs for the last ~10 years w/ an assortment of hollows. Current fave is the semi blingy Ibby George Benson, runner up is more blingy Gibby ES359c. Partscaster semihollow w/ P90s to jam rawk at the house. Just got a $170 IYV hollow to leave at work. Edited January 5 by Brooks I'm wordy 6 Quote

Remember the early '90s when those hideous PRS Dragons were listed at $20k in Vintage Guitar? Lmao at the suckers who bought those at a premium. 1 Quote

"Vintage" is in. They make some great strat style guitars, but only a few signature models have a "noodle" style logo, and it's also not as stylized as the old 70s logo. Ibanez brought out the retro-styled 'Jet King' series of guitars a few years ago, which had the old style Ibanez logo on the headstock. They discontinued that model line back in the early 2010s: Jet King series | Ibanez Wiki | Fandom 3 Quote

I'm trying to remember why I didn't bond with it. I can say however that is was one of several guitars that really convinced me that I don't really like the sound of split humbuckers, except when it's combined with another split humbucker. My PRS can split both pickups, but I only like it when it's in the center position. Edited January 7 by tbonesullivan 2 Quote
