Have you ever considered scuffing up the neck? It was suggested to me on here years ago to hit a gloss neck with 0000 steel wool, Scotch-brite pads or 200- 300 grit sand paper and you get a nice albeit temporary satin feel.

It took me a few months to finally fully bond with mine. Not a fan of painted necks either but can get on well enough if the other playability characteristics are solid. The one issue I'm having is hitting the the rhythm pickup while playing chords. Normally, this is not an issue but with the Sustainiac p'up in it, for whatever reason, makes a bit of racket, like it's hollow. At stage volume, it's not discernible. Jamming in the studio at preserve-the-marriage-volume, it's audible and annoying.

You might want to look at the the American Series RR 24s. Pricey but satin finish.

I try to keep my guitars as original as possible unless I 100% know it's a forever guitar, and I only really own one of those.

I gigged with the RRT a good bit. Had it a year. The last show was a deal breaker. I was polishing the neck between ever song and finally just put it down. It was sticking enough that it was actually wearing my hand out. I do have a pretty big hand, and my hands do sweat a bit, so other folks my experience that differently.

I really needed to move some stuff on anyway to help cover the $5200 that this Banker order is. Seemed like moving this on was the easiest decision. Plus, it was completely Blemish free, having survived at least four fraternity parties here locally and one down at Auburn... until I bonked the back of one of the horns taking the final g'ddmnd picture for the Reverb ad.

If you liked the RR1, you’ll be fine. It’s not unusual for a Jackson at all, but it did remind me why I tend to lean to the Charvel side of the family.

I have never minded my Hamer's painted/finished necks but my first bass was a USA Fender Bullet Bass.  The cheap series before they moved it to import builds. It had a varnished neck.  I sanded that down with in days of buying it and have never regretted it.  Definitely a forever bass.
