bry4321 Posted April 5 Posted April 5 (edited) Oh interesting. I always assumed the David Lee Roth albums didn't sound as good (in my opinion) because no Eddie. Maybe it had something to do with this guy. RIP Edited April 5 by bry4321 Quote
Jakeboy Posted April 6 Posted April 6 The Sunset Sound YouTube vids make it clear how important he was to the VH sound, and others as well. 6 Quote
ZR Posted April 7 Posted April 7 (edited) That's interesting. I'll need to look those up and see if I can replicate anything with my IK multimedia Sunset Sounds vst plugin for grins and giggles. Just checked, 14 VH vids in that playlist! 🙂 Edited April 7 by ZR Checked YouTube 2 Quote
Jakeboy Posted April 7 Posted April 7 @ZR, using the Sunset live room or the plate verb as a send that is then hard panned gives you that early VH sound where EVH is hard panned on one side, but the reverb slathered guitar is hard panned opposite and up just enough to be heard. A classic 70s studio trick (as you prolly already know) to get ambience on a track. 5 1 Quote
hamerican gigolo Posted April 9 Posted April 9 (edited) DL'S expertise wasn't just limited to VH. He & Ted did record the Doobies, Little Feat, etc. R.I.P. 😞 Edited April 9 by hamerican gigolo 2 1 Quote
