Lookin' for LP Love...

I've decided that I've been too long without a Les Paul and really miss having one around. Looking for one that I'll be gigging with, so it doesn't have to be immaculate. Ideal LP would be a Historic '54 RI Goldtop or a 3 pickup Custom, but I'm also interested in stuff from the Norlins on up. I'm finicky about the colors of sunburst ones and actually prefer solid colors, but depending on the guitar, bursts are cool. I am not interested in any of the non-traditional stuff like Studios (nothing with dots), the fancy blinged out stuff they've done recently, etc. Traditional is cool-Standards, Deluxes, Pro Deluxes, Customs, etc.

My friend wants to unload a '78 black LP custom; pretty relicked buy excellent functionally, for like $1300. don't know if thats good or bad.

If he's got pics, I'd be interested in checking it out. I'm not really keen on something with breaks or repairs, but reliced isn't objectionable if its a good one. I posted here figuring someone with some first hand knowledge might be a better reference than eBay. Thanks!

I've got a Cloud 9 R6 plaintop burst w/ Lollar P90's (original pickups would be included) that I've been thinking about moving. Chambered and very light, perfect for gigging. Here's a picture from the dealer. I can get some additional shots later tonight if you're interested.

Serial, I'm so happy I got this one (quickie crappy pic). My MO seems to be buy a guitar, sell or trade it, have remorse, track another one down, buy it. When I buy a SECOND of the same thing I once had, I know it's time to keep it. Soon I will have my second Standard, to replace the one I sold. Loco. Dave-that's freaking cool! I just narrowly missed out on a TV Yellow '90 Standard that was just like a '92 I had (the last LP I owned). It was a good one.

The Historic Goldtops are cool. Here's my 2003 R4 Tonequest, one of maybe 30-35 made between 2003/2004 and supposedly one of only 6 with a Brazilian fingerboard. It's about 8-1/2 lb and sounds incredible unplugged. I'll bet Jaye's rocks!
