velorush Posted Wednesday at 01:33 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:33 PM (edited) Relatively speaking (i.e., relative the other Prototype listings on Reverb) this looks to be a steal. $1,900 shipped? And like Paul's grandfather, it's "clean!" 1982 Hamer Prototype Vintage Made In USA Natural Mahogany Electric Guitar W/ Original Hardshell Case! | Reverb Somebody snatch this up! bsteff666 Posted Thursday at 11:44 AM Posted Thursday at 11:44 AM I checked this one out at a guitar show on Sunday. Really nice one. 1 Quote
lang Posted Thursday at 01:05 PM Posted Thursday at 01:05 PM I was really tempted by this one... Looks like it's in great condition. Quote
velorush Posted Thursday at 04:29 PM Author Posted Thursday at 04:29 PM Trust me, it was everything I could do not to buy this guitar. I've wanted a prototype since seeing Eddie Martinez on MTV in the early 80's. And this one appeared so clean. In the end I skipped it as 1. I know that I know the neck would be too thin for me to play regularly, and 2. It really wouldn't fill any voids in the pallet I am pulling from these days. But it was so clean! 2 Quote
Steve Haynie Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago The neck on my 1982 Sunburst is not thin at all. Think about that as you regret not buying the 1982 Prototype. 😏 2 Quote
bubs_42 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago The 82 proto I owned was slightly bigger than the 81’s, still nowhere near like Hamers mid 90’s carve. still one of my favorite Hamers of all time, but I lost my shirt on every single one I sold. Plus, prices will continue to drop. 1 Quote
