shuie Posted June 28, 2006 Author Posted June 28, 2006 What do you guys think of the price? Optimistic? Fair?
serial Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Very fair. These are fantastic guitars. The one Hamer that gives my four digits a run for their money (and may be superior in most respects) is my korina Vector.
BTMN Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 If it was #28 I wouldn't hesitate one second. Wish I could but not this day. One day but not this one. Good Luck!!!
kizanski Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I should buy it so that I had 27 and 72.It's a symmetry thing...
DavidE Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 How about a swap for a '76 Explorer? Are '76 explorers worth that kind of money these days?
kizanski Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 How about a swap for a '76 Explorer? Are '76 explorers worth that kind of money these days? The question is: "Are Korina Vectors worth as much as a '76 Explorer?"Real '76s are going for $3000 - $3500 for nice ones.If we're talking about the recent '76 Reissues, they're not even fetching $900 used.
shuie Posted July 1, 2006 Author Posted July 1, 2006 It doesn't have to be an even money swap, I understand a nice '76 explorer is worth more than the Vector and that I should expect to put out some $$$ on a swap like this. A pristine '76 Explorer is probably worth $2800-$3k+ all day long. For today, at least. I don't need a pristine example, I just don't want to wind up with less guitar than I have with the Vector. They are nice guitars, but Im not interested in anything thats current production.
cmatthes Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 Yikes...I'm cringing just thinking about all of the REAL '76 (and '77, '78, '79 & '80s) Explorers I've passed on for under $1,300 over the last 20 years! The going price was $750 for a while, then they stalled at $1,250-$1,500 for a decade. What was I thinking?!

You're not the only one.I had a chance to buy a pristine example from a friend (same one that has my old '87 PRS) for $450 about 20 years ago, but I passed. He still has the Explorer and the PRS. They're still both like new, only now neither is for sale.Thank you, I'll kick my own ass later.
cmatthes Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 All these old mailer stocklists from the mid-80s to late 90s mock me openly...
kizanski Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 All these old mailer stocklists from the mid-80s to late 90s mock me openly... That's why I threw mine out years ago.

I thought they'd be worth less than the Vector!Hard to explain. They are 70's Gibsons!!!I remember my guitar teacher trying to sell me one in '78 for $600 or something for a new one.
Steve Haynie Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 A friend had an Explorer back in junior high/high school that was new in the mid 70's. It had a baseball bat for a neck. Kind of cool in some ways, but not really me at the time. I have a 1997 Vector that is a great playing guitar. Someone should grab this one that is up for sale.
shuie Posted July 2, 2006 Author Posted July 2, 2006 Thanks, guys. I think its a good guitar. I bought it new in '97 with the intention of playing it a little and letting it appreciate in value. Well, at least I played it a little The '76 Explorers do have fat necks. The string-through Korina V's have always been my favorite guitars, but I've got chronic GAS for an Explorer right now. The '76 guitars are the only ones that are attainable for me. The Gibson stuff gets more ridiculous $$$ wise everyday, so I figure I better get one while I still can.
shuie Posted July 3, 2006 Author Posted July 3, 2006 I've responded to a couple of emails expressing interest and Im not getting follow ups from anyone. I don't know if spam filters are getting my mails or not. Is anyone waiting on a response from me regarding this guitar? If so, email directly a sparish6@cox.net and I will respond to your message.TIA
guitarzandstuff Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 How about a trade for a brand new '76 explorer in cherry red with warranty (work for a music store) and some cash??
shuie Posted July 4, 2006 Author Posted July 4, 2006 Thanks for the offer, but Id be looking for a player quality '76 in a trade. The current guitars are very nice, but I want one of the actual 1976 LE guitars.Any interest at $1700 + shipping before it goes to the bay?
serial Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Damn great price. If I didn't already have one, I'd jump all over this. Absolutely the best sounding, playing, most consistent guitar I've ever owned.
LordOfTheThighs Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 OH MAN ... your killing me. I wish I had the jack to score it. Great price.
