BCR Greg Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I ordered this a while ago, since Hamer won't make Birds anymore.... In it comes today, and life was good. Pigtail wraparound, two P-90's, all mahogany, custom neck spec. As cool as it is, I couldn't stop myself..... Now it has Rios, Hamer pots, and the switch is in the right place. 6 hours of work, but worth it! More tomorrow, I have to dig out of the store and then dig out at home. Snow sucks.
Guest Buck Dharma Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Hi Greg, Here is a Custom Order I have on it's way. Not very good pics but I'll take better when I get it. Thought you might like.
Guest Buck Dharma Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 That looks even better after those mods! I would be very afraid to modify something that nice. You Da Man! I wish Hamer would make Birds I would get one in a second.
tomteriffic Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Nice work Greggles! Is the new control setup a V-V-T? I notice it got Schaller buttons too....
formula73 Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Hi Greg,Here is a Custom Order I have on it's way. Not very good pics but I'll take better when I get it. Thought you might like. Hey Buck! I really dig FBs, and I notice your custom shop has a bolt neck in a glued joint. How well do these hold up? I'd always wondered about that. I use some pretty heavy strings, but if that can be made to be a rock-solid joint then my DIY guitar options just multiplied exponentially. I hatebolt on neck heels.
Guest Buck Dharma Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I didn't get the guitar yet. It's on it's way from Canada so I can't really answer that till after I get it. It is different that's for sure it has Humbuckers and the set neck. The guy has been making guitars for years so I took a chance. You can check out his stuff at http://www.frankinsteinguitarworks.com/ He has some wild stuff.
blackfbiv Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I think he does a ton of work for Kim Mitchell, no? Nice bird. Rough idea on cost? If you care to share that is. Dion
Jem Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 That scrath plate sucks should have that one alone IMHO ! Jemmie
BCR Greg Posted March 1, 2005 Author Posted March 1, 2005 Eat me, Jemmie! It's a PICKGUARD, not a scratchplate. Sheeeeeesh! You Brits talk funny!
Hunter_Brown Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Sheeeeeesh! You Brits talk funny! I got in the 'elevator' last night with a nice enough guy who was over joyed that he's got "a clear cell in the lift". Now, for that P-90 fire pigeon you just built...I assume this serves as the flavor of the month, and the Avalon is no longer of any pertinent use to you.
bruce919 Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I stoped in the Guitar Center down in Indy this past weekend. They have a Custom made Neck Thru Hill Firebird right now. If I was not on a selling spree I would have grabed it. $499 I beleive was the asking price.
Jem Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Yeah, i was supprised he didn't jump on me for that, mind you 'eat him' ?!?! i wouldn't even nibble his ear on a dark night !
BCR Greg Posted March 1, 2005 Author Posted March 1, 2005 Hunter, you are mistaken. Sorry.Kiz, WHAT'S THE WORD?Jem, you are a lost soul. Change your diaper and get back to work. LOL
Hunter_Brown Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 What's a "scrath plate"? I think BCRGreg is talking Brit for 'Chinet filled with Manwhich leftovers'
Jem Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Hey it's 7pm here, anyway you're the one that's actually at work, get a move on or i'll call you're boss
kurtsstuff Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 It would kick ass if ya put some EMG's in it.....hehehe
Stevieconlon Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Looks great.I'm a bird fan myself. Here's my 12 string conversion.http://www.12stringbass.net/Stevie1x.jpg
Guest Buck Dharma Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I think he does a ton of work for Kim Mitchell, no?Nice bird. Rough idea on cost? If you care to share that is. Dion Yes he does guitars for Kim Mitchell. I traded him my 1965 Harmony H-75 for it. I am going to miss the Harmony but it's not practical for me, to easy to bang up. This bird has Humbuckers in it and he said it sounds more like a good Explorer or V than a Firebird. I'm pretty excited I'll just have to wait and see. It's unique and I like that
