Jeff R Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 A friendly self-serving PSA for my fellow Forumites...moving the guitar I play the least (believe it or not) to get my "one that got away" amp.http://cgi.ebay.com/CUSTOM-HAMER-USA-CENTA...1QQcmdZViewItemEven HFC non-bidders will enjoy watching this one - I'll be surprised if it doesn't set a new high water mark for Centauras on eBay.
Punkavenger Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 That is very very cool ... great color !
black magic Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Wow, someone even already bid $600 for it already. Now that suprises me a little. Jack.
Guest JackButler Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 hhhh...sigh... ya' killin' me ovah herah!!!!!!!!!
thecajunboy Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Coupla shots we took trying to catch the true color.
Guest JackButler Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 There's no drool smiley on this thing!!!!So how'd you like the Tremel-NO?
Jeff R Posted September 25, 2006 Author Posted September 25, 2006 I love the Tremol-No, I have one on my beater Ibanez 550 too. Lock to hardtail and your double-string bends stay in tune, and I like being able to go to drop D on the fly too. No mods to the guitar required either and IMHO it improved the tone of both guitars I've installed them on. Highly recommended!

Is it a 3% improvement or more like a 5% improvement?
Jeff R Posted September 25, 2006 Author Posted September 25, 2006 I'd say actually a 5.7 percent improvement, but that should be up to about a 14.3 percent or more improvement after the Schlabotnik mods -- he's filling the hollow lock bar with liquid brass, applying a titanium coating on the entire unit, and replacing the stock locking thumbwheels with tube ones.
VIKING Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 How does the Diablo neck compare to the Centaura in terms of playability and speed. I like the feel of the Centaura neck but haven't played the Diablos. Is it much slower do to the increased size?
Jeff R Posted September 26, 2006 Author Posted September 26, 2006 The thicker neck never slowed me down, but I can play anything you put in my hands because I'm a monster like that, a guitar wrecking ball. Do the same with beers too, but that's another story for another day.I had a thin necked Centaura 2HB, I think a '90, and this one is a better tone machine with no sacrifice on playability. Don't think baseball bat, just think sculpted shredder with a little more meat where it counts.
black magic Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 I have owned 3 Diablos and 2 Centauras and I would say the Centaura neck is more like the Cali, thin and flatter. My Diablos had more medium rounded necks and dare I say a slight "V" to the profile. Jack.
VIKING Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 I think the double humbucker is the way to go. My other Centauras are s-s-hum and I am always wanting to switch to a double on the neck.
pesocaster Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!If I had the coin that one I'd have jumped on..... Can't believe you're letting that one go Jeff....
Jimbilly Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Peso and I were just talking about dual hum Centauras, those (and that one in particular) are just too cool.
Guest pirateflynn Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 I'll be surprised if it doesn't set a new high water mark for Centauras on eBay.What do they usually go for?
Brooks Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 I'd say actually a 5.7 percent improvement, but that should be up to about a 14.3 percent or more improvement after the Schlabotnik mods -- he's filling the hollow lock bar with liquid brass, applying a titanium coating on the entire unit, and replacing the stock locking thumbwheels with tube ones.hahahaa!!damn jeff, i'm surprised you're selling that. which guitar is your #1?
