John E Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 I don't know this guy, but it looks like he legitimately came into possession of a real-live dry-transfer Hamer logo; the boys in New Hartford sent him two when he was refinishing his 1979 Special. If one of you guys is putting an old basket case back together again, this may be helpful (although not as helpful as one with a checkerboard on it!).http://forums.birdsandmoons.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12818
serial Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 I actually need one of these. I sent him an email. Thanks for the heads up!
thecajunboy Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Dammit, late again as usual. Any idea if Hamer could get me one to refin my 81 Vector?
serial Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Hamer will relogo the guitar if they refin it. Their refins are excellent and pretty fairly priced.
sw686blue Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Hamer will relogo the guitar if they refin it. Their refins are excellent and pretty fairly priced. Serial, roughly how much does Hamer charge for a refin on a Studio?
cmatthes Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 I don't think HAMER is taking refins now. they are significantly backlogged with orders for new guitars (a very GOOD thing!), but are certainly going to cut out doing anything that would take away production time.I tried for a few years to get a Special refinned, but they were not ever taking on more refin jobs because of the workload. This goes back to mid to late '01. I know people who got a few refins done prior to that, but I seem to always have the need when they're booked up.I ended up selling the Special anyway...
JohnnyThunders Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 I almost got one done at Factory Tour time but the price I was quoted was much higher than getting it done locally (Hill Guitar) . Also their was no guarentee on when it would get done.
holLoWskull Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 I sent my Special FM into Hamer in mid-January of this year and got it back in mid-March. The quality of the job was fantastic and the price was better than I was quoted by guys around me (they even threw in some new tune-o-matic studs and redressed the frets!!!) Contact Kim Kellar for a price, but I will say that mine was VERY reasonable (though I was told that binding will add to the price quite a bit, thankfully mine was unbound with a dot board). I have nothing but good things to say about the Hamer factory's refinish prices, service, and quality and would (and probably will) take other Hamer USA guitars there that have beat finishes.
black magic Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 JohnnyT, are you in Cleveland? Hill is great to deal with!! He will make my next Custom Shop guitar after my Jackson is done next year. Jack.
JohnnyThunders Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 Yep right the roda from him. My quote from Hamer was high probably becuase I wanted the binding taken off and changed from cream to black.
black magic Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 Ya, that can`t be fun, but I love black binding, I am getting it on the neck and headstock of my now ordered CS Jackson Soloist. Jack.
