64VibroVerb-amp.jpg

1964 Vibroverb. The first Fender reverb amp, with a 15" Jensen. It KILLS.

I have to decide whether I sell this or my 59 Bassman, because they both sound killer. Can't keep both!(sez the wife)

The Bassman has a reputation that makes it sought after by people who have never heard one. You might be safer keeping that one because it will be easier to sell in a hurry if you should ever have to raise cash.

What Steve said, plus: the Vibroverb is a single-player association that makes it popular and desirable beyond its inherent value as a vintage guitar amp. The Bassman has a broader mystique than that. All of which is to say, tone aside (I'd probably prefer the Bassman myself), if you're investing for the long term, keep the Bassman. Flip the Vibroverb for quick short-term gain.

Put the BF Vibroverb on the Gear Page, refer back to SRV six or seven times in describing it and mix in the voodoo/mojo/buttah tags in the description and you should get a bazillionjillion bucks for it.

If you want a nice 15-incher loaded amp, get a Peavey Delta Blues. It has a nice Fendery clean channel, a second channel for Brit-voiced gain, there are mods galore for them on the web to tweak to your tastes, and its cost on the used market is probably equal to the used value of the V-verb's footswitch LOL.

+1 on both points. I'm an unabashed 59 Bassman bigot so the choice for me is easy.

The mods on the Delta Blues are the same as the Classic 30. They put an inexpensive, bang for the buck amp into near boutique territory. JMHO

I don't think Greg would be interested in one but I mention it because others might be.

I have owned both and I would have a hard time deciding...and my opinion is just another opinion...but as my grandmother used to say, here's another county heard from...

The V-Verb is cool but sounds a lot like the Pro Reverb from the same era to me (except the JBL chime of the 15 is unique, but the head is very close to the same sound IMHO). The tweedy is a legendary tone beast with no equal. I have a special liking for the tan and brown Supers I had...that 2x10 setup is still my favorite Fender rig...the Vibrolux Reverb too.

I'd go with keeping the tweed and like was suggested, mojo up the ad for big dosh on the Stevie Ray-verb.

Saw one this weekend at the Arlington show. Didn't stop to look closer, take pictures, or fart on the guy in the booth.
