peedenmark7 Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 considering selling my player '78 sunburst... kind of a tobacco-ey burst, she's a player/beater, but shes bound and crowned .w/original case showing lots of use.frets are original and are fine . the neck is to say the least one of the best sunbursts that I have played EVER.and theres been dozens... finish has numerous dings all over, top back everywhere..... back of the neck is fine oddly enough, smooth and well rounded over fretboard, very comfortable not sharp at all.....long headstock, with 2 tuner changes, but currently has a NOS set of correct bullseyes on it...I paid too much for it, and then corrected the missing parts...hell the NOS grovers were almost $200 bought it to gig and its just not getting used.. contemplated a refin, but couldnt bring myself to change a thing. lots of personality here.I will sell it with or without the late '70s/early '80s duncans .and actually would prefer to do so because the double cream in the bridge is not one I wanna cut loose.if anyone wants one they can gig and not be terrified to leave the house with...heres your animal...
Kilroy is all about... Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 what's the serial number; thanks in advance. kilroy posts
rmahurin Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 My opinion is Hamers by their nature are players. I would expect any of them that are close to 30 years old and sound good to be a bit of a beater. That is Stupid Cheap.

I would expect any of them that are close to 30 years old and sound good to be a bit of a beater. That is Stupid Cheap.Exactly! And the more beat they are, the better they are as players.I've played quite a few "collectors grade" vintage Hamers over the years, and they usually don't have "it."...and yes, that IS stupid cheap! Why is it still available, folks?I can guarantee that if I had not just gone for the lungs for some old wood, I'd be grabbing that one right about now...
Guest pirateflynn Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 I will sell it with or without the late '70s/early '80s duncans .and actually would prefer to do so because the double cream in the bridge is not one I wanna cut loose. Are the pickups Duncans or original DiMarzio's ?Thanks.
peedenmark7 Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 '80 has been pulled... the '78 has 2 inline waiting "should it go".no dimarzios, it has a late '70s /early '80 duncan 59N and a duncan JB.great price for sure... and some still expected the '78 for less ??? heck with it... I'll sit for now.
