elduave Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 If'n yer' lookin...$549 shipped (lower 48) with a Rocketeria shirt and some other random goodness!
BadgerDave Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I absolutely love mine. My only regret is that I didn't buy it from Dave.I matched it with an eBay closed back single 12 cabinet with a Celestion Blue and it sounds amazing. Similar to, but better than, my old Vox AC15, which kicked serious A$$! Lots of clean headroom and a master gain circuit that actually retains the tone of the amp at lower volume levels. With a reasonably efficient speaker, you can gig with this amp. I've played through boutiqe amps costing up to 4X the price that don't sound as good - really!
straightblues Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Could this amp play traditional blues stuff or is it just too gainy? This little guy intreges me.
BadgerDave Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 With the right set of tubes, you could play loud country gigs in small to medium venues.I'm currently running a set of Groove Tubes "10s" with a Mullard clone 12ax7M and I have all of the clean headroom I need for loud basement jams. With a lower output preamp tube, like a 5751, I suspect I could get a bit louder before things started breaking up.The stock set of tubes (JJ IIRC) were good, but did tend to break up a bit early, at least compared to my current set-up. Still, they provided a reasonable amount of clean headroom and sounded very good when pushed into that slightly distorted blues range.
elduave Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 I was hoping BD would chime in on that one, thanks!
elduave Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 --> QUOTE(David B @ Apr 11 2007, 03:10 PM) ← Are these strong enough to push a 4x12 cabinet? If it's on casters, maybe. DB, I haven't tried them with a 4x12. Badger looks to have done the study, hopefully he'll chime in again.
BadgerDave Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Sorry, I stay away from 4x12 cabinets these days.I suspect it would do just fine. Hell, I heard a 0.5 watt ZVex micro amp push decent volume through a Marshal 4x12 once.

Hell, I heard a 0.5 watt ZVex micro amp push decent volume through a Marshal 4x12 once.Exactly. But to be sure, if that amp has a 16 ohm tap on it, I can bring my 4x12 over for grins one day.15 watts is damn loud, folks.
elduave Posted March 11, 2008 Author Posted March 11, 2008 Back in stock! A consistent seller, for sure.
Guitarseh Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Oh yeah, these are cool. Warm cleans plus nice crunch tones. Takes pedals pretty well too. Thanks to Dave for hookling me up with one last year!Mark B
JohnnyThunders Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 They sound really great with a Zvex super duper 2 in 1 thru a 4x12 with Celestion 100's. Oh my.
Stokesdead Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 hmmm....... elduave may be getting a call......hmnmm......"shhh wallet stop crying"
silentman Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Dave or anyone else ... have you played a Thunderverb 50?
elduave Posted March 13, 2008 Author Posted March 13, 2008 Dave or anyone else ... have you played a Thunderverb 50?I haven't played the Thunderverb stuff, but read all about 'em. Pricey, but if they're anything like the rest of the UK stuff, you're golden.
JohnnyThunders Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Thunderverb looks cool I'm waiting for them to come in locally so I can try one. Orange just annouce two new amps: One of the most original and known amp company, Orange, will release 2 new models to celebrate its 40th anniversary, that are being built with the finest components using all the experience of Orange designers. The Orange 40th Anniversary Amps will have 2 different models will be one from the custom shop and the other will be a limited edition production versionThe Orange 40th Anniversary Custom Shop model, that at least at the moment doesn’t have a more precise name, is a fully handmade amp including point-to-point hand-wired connections and will feature a plexi-glass front panel, high and low inputs, 3-band EQ, gain and volume controls (at least this is what I could understand from the graphical knob titles). Each model will have its own girl name and will come with a circuit certificate and documentation. The production limited edition model is the Orange OR50 head amp that will feature 1 channel, 8-section output transformers, master volume control (that can be footswitchable) and plexi-glass front panel; this amp also has an updated version of the HF Drive control that adds a chime to the classic Orange tone. This amps have, by now, no pricing or availability information.
elduave Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 Tiny Terror's back in, again. Probably our most consistent selling SKU in it's price range. I'm thinking about taking the plunge. That being said, our new Orange rep brought in a Thunderverb 50 head today. MAN! I am SO digging it. 2 channels with *great* tones, enough gain for metal, killer reverb (probably the best I've heard on any amp), fits neatly over the Orange 1x12 cab and a built in attenuator (footswitchable-a lead boost to end all lead boosts). Pricey, but DAMN! I'm wantin' one bad! Who wants to buy my LP Red Sparkle?

I ALWAYS get positive comments about my TT tone from people at my gigs (even though I have it camouflaged in a REAL head cabinet!).
fractal Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 It looks like Mercury is going to have one of their transformer upgrades for this guy. If I didn't already work in an amp shop, this is exactly what I'd go for.
