Scooter Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 I went and saw this guitar. It's very nice. The color is faded for sure. It appears all original, and no it doesn't say USA under the logo (but the serial number is where it should be). The neck has some of the nicest birdseye I've ever seen and the ebony fretboard is SLICK! The body is a great hunk of wavy maple, but its thin and has really rounded edges like Carvins (I didn't care for that).
marcnorth Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 With that back plate shape you would think that it was possible to get a four knob Special, but nooooo. You can have a 4 knob Special if your willing to pay for it.My Blades Bass had 4 knobs.
HamStd Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 You can have a 4 knob Special if your willing to pay for it. My Blades Bass had 4 knobs. Yes indeed!!! Peter
marcnorth Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Nice Bass Peter. Looks like it has the original white with black hardware back on it. I know everyone here loves that color too. I always thought it was cool myself. That was my main axe for many years. One of the best playing basses I've ever had the pleasure of owning.
Steve Haynie Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Did the two tone hardware come from the factory or did you do that yourself. It looks good.
cmatthes Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 I think that bass had white (or white/black or white/gold?) powdercoated hardware on it originally. That was an upcharge item back then.I've always dug the color scheme on that one too, BTW...
HamStd Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Me, too, I love the white coated hardware. Chris is right that it is a powder coating. Some of us "old guys" might remember when Kahler came out with the different color powder coated trems..... White/Gold and White/Black it all looks hot! Peter
