BCR Greg Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 1987, made for Jack Blades hisseff! Light, OBL Pickups, new case. $2359 gets you in the club!
tobereeno Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 damn, I want that. But I obviously don't have the money, seeing as I'm freaking liquidating my Hamer stash.
Andrew Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 This looks VERY like the one from the 1987/8 catalogue, where the description says maple body but the pic is clearly mahogany. Is this really 32 inch scale? The 1897 catalogue says 30.5, so that would be two mistakes in one picture and description.http://uk.geocities.com/largeat/b12cruz.jpg(IMG:http://uk.geocities.com/largeat/b12cruz.jpg)Andrew.http://uk.geocities.com/largeat/index.html
edgar_allan_poe Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 The 1897 catalogue says 30.5, so that would be two mistakes in one picture and description. Damn!! I had no idea Hamer was that old.
BCR Greg Posted October 6, 2007 Author Posted October 6, 2007 32 " scale, as stated previously. This is NOT a B12S, it's a bass made for Jack Blades.
HamStd Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 It is actually NOT the bass from the catalog. If you want to know the story on this one, email me. I am the one that originally got it from Jack personally. It has since passed through three different hands.I can tell you the story behind this one.Peter
cmatthes Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Not doubting you Peter, but that woodgrain matches up perfectly - even the knotty stuff next to the front pickup, between that and the top volume knob:
marcnorth Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Looks like the same bass. Very nice indeed.Whats the width at the nut? Is this a single truss rod model?
LordOfTheThighs Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Perhaps Hamer used the Blades bass for the catalog, but gave specs for the 30.5" bass. It looks like the same guitar, for SURE.
HamStd Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Perhaps Hamer used the Blades bass for the catalog, but gave specs for the 30.5" bass. It looks like the same guitar, for SURE.Well if that is the case, then someone must have broken into my living room as the bass in the catalog is sitting on the couch, and that one came from someone offical at Kaman that owned it.Peter
HamStd Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Let me add alittle to this one as I have already gotten 3 very nasty emails (you know who you are) on my post. The Bass is a GREAT player. The bass was owned by Jack, he used it for a photoshoot (There is a very nice photo of it in an old Night Ranger Japan Tour program -you guys remember Tour Programs back in the day when they only cost $7.00, had GREAT pictures in them and weren't littered with ads for Beers, video games and car ads) and in the studio for a couple of Night Ranger tracks-although the big sound of the 12 string didn't make it to disc as they felt it didn't fit their sound-whatever that means. It is a very nice bass and a great player.Peter.
cmatthes Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Maybe it's possible that the bass Greg has is the CATALOG bass and NOT the Blades bass and that Peter has Jack's old bass? As far as sending nasty emails, that's really childish. No need for that. Peter - gotta shot of yours?
Guest pirateflynn Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 I have already gotten 3 very nasty emailsNasty emails .... to Peter? Unbelievable.
BCR Greg Posted October 7, 2007 Author Posted October 7, 2007 Jesus help us all. Now I'M getting emails!I am selling the bass on consignment. The owner claims it's the Jack Blades bass. Peter claims it is the Jack Blades bass. There is one in the catalog that looks similar. It's a killer bass. Can we move on, now?
edgar_allan_poe Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 LOL!! Too many people with too much damn time on their hands. My guess is that the two basses in question may have been cut from the same plank of wood. It would explain the similarities, and I have seen it happen before.
