Anyone that can fill me in on this guitar, I'm all ears. It's a Custom with silver laquer faded slightly greenish; single layer black binding on the body(no binding on back); block inlays on an unbound neck; full Custom headstock overlay, keystone tuners with snot buttons.

I just bought it from a guy that got it YEARS ago. It has a 1986 serial number. The pickups have been changed out to a Duncan Custom and JB.

Anyone know what this is? It RIPS, and it's wierd.

I haven't seen a silver one, but I very much recall a bright red one with the same trim and from around that same era hanging in a shop (in Harrisburg, down the street from the original BCR Music, no less) in the early '90s. It may have been unsold stock, because it was up with the new Gibsons.

The silver looks better than I remember the red one looking. I was more into Firebirds, Hamers, Ricks and Gretsches back then, but remember a few cool, unique LPs this guy had - all the colors of the month Customs, etc.

looks like the plants version of a studio custom. you could call the 1-800#, they will give you the skinny on it, the'll have records, if not pm me the serial # and I can find out.

Sold to a good buddy so I can gig with it!

Gibson told me this about it....

"Hi Greg,

Thanks for getting those pics in! Serial number 82829604 and the attached photos appear to be consistent with a 1989 Les Paul Custom that was special ordered with a Silver finish, and black top body binding. Thanks for the inquiry, and I hope this information is helpful!

Best regards,

Benton Cummings
