BTMN Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 Love the one piece body design. Must have been a Monday guitar with a tuner install like that... Please post up some of your '97's.
bruce919 Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 Here are a few. Some are gone now, but in good hands.
BCR Greg Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 That tuner took a shot. That's from the head hitting the end of the case. Loosen the string, loosen the 10 mm nut on the front of the tuner shaft, straighten and tighten down.We used to see this a lot, I yelled and stamped my feet(along with a few other dealers) and got them to upgrade the case to the fitted style.
BTMN Posted May 16, 2005 Author Posted May 16, 2005 I just looked at it. The screw is in flush and it is mounted incorrectly. There does not appear to be any tearing of the screw hole on the back. This Standard is the one on the bottom row betweenthe Indigo Rick Neilsen and the White Standard in Bruce919's shot.
Brewmaster Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 [Love the one piece body design. Must have been a Monday guitar with a tuner install like that... Please post up some of your '97's. I'm glad you ended up with this one. I don't think you have put it down since you got it.
BTMN Posted May 17, 2005 Author Posted May 17, 2005 I've played this guitar everyday since I got it. When I change strings next weekend, I'll take the screw and nut loose on the tuner to see if it is as Greg says.
tomteriffic Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 I don't really have a good solo shot of mine, but here's one, along with a family picnic shot with a couple of others. Mine is currently sporting double '59's in a zebra/reverse zebra configuration. Works well for southern-fried, otherwise I might put a C5 or similar in it.
serial Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 Here are some-an '83 and a '97...http://photobucket.com/albums/v153/serial/005_20A.jpghttp://photobucket.com/albums/v153/serial/009_16A.jpg
BTMN Posted May 17, 2005 Author Posted May 17, 2005 So somehow posting my observations of my guitar was interpreted as an insult to a reply on what might have caused my E tuner to be askew. This afternoon I spent about 10 minutes evaluating and fixing the tuner. Yes it had been knocked aside with no visible injury. After photographing the detuning, loosening, and unscrewing of the screw on the back of the headstock. I easily adjusted the tuner and retightened everything up. Photographing my repair for future referance should I encounter it again. Bench report available upon request after roll finished. I got me a copy of Dan Earlewine's guitar repair book recently and plan to make it a well worn book soon enough. Have tools, will fix, repair, or disassemble eh? So let me publically apologize for any misinterpretation of my posted remarks, they should not reflect on the guitar diagnostic abilities of Greg from BCR Music. The guy has been nothing but good to me in the past. Not sure what in my reply upset him so, but I already apologized to him, and I'm not sure that was enough, so here is another one. Having rarely stated anything negative about Hamer, PLEASE let me apologize for stating my '97 Standard was a "Monday morning guitar" I did put a smiley with that remark to note sarcastic commenting going on. I wouldn't be such a Hamer nut and own 13 USA and 2 imports if they made "Monday morning guitars". There ya go. Edited cause I needed to state my point clearer and I cant spell sometimes.
mykel Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 Please post up some of your '97's. I've posted this recently, but since you so nicely asked... here's the brother of yours, also from bruce919: was playing it yesterday. sweet guitar. michael
