Lou Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 This one isn't mine (I have a Duotone in natural) but it's got a nice look to it. I think I'm obsessed over this model http://cgi.ebay.com/HAMER-USA-ELECTRIC-ACO...1QQcmdZViewItem Lou
Pieman Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Lou, how realistic is the accoustic tone from these?A guy who had a piezo in his T51 or Daytona or T62 (can't remember which) said to buy two guitars because the accoustic thing doesn't come through in one. But thise were solid bodies. The electric side od a Duo-Tone must be pretty good with the HBs and the body style, no?. Your impressions?
BubbaVO Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 These are great guitars. I have a '95 DT and it really is very good as both an acoustic (amplified) and an electric guitar. I've heard that the acoustic tones are better on the CT built DT since they upgraded the piezo pickup. That color is really striking. It's got me thinking.
Guest Meshuggah Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Heed the warning!"We are not guitar experts, but we are guessing that it will need to be tuned."
ET_KenW Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I tried an HFC approved bid. That got passed in about three hours. Good luck out there to whomever goes for it. I think that's the first three hole Duotone I've seen in other than natural or black. There may have been a green one at one time, but what do I know.
PastorPaul Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 That is a pretty color. I doubt many were made.I had a T51F for a while, and the piezo tone was decent. What I didn't like about it was the need for a rig that routed the mag and piezo signals separately in order to get the best of both. (IMHO, the Parkers with the summed mono switch have a better sounding blend if the signal is run into one amp.)Back to the Duotone, I'd live with my need to sort out the routing issues if I had a piezo-equipped guitar that looked like that!
cmatthes Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I've owned a Green and a Gold (P-90) 3-hole Duotone. While I've seen only two green ones and a few gold, cherry red trans and black, the majority seemed to be 59 Burst and Natural. This is the ONLY Blue 3-hole DuoTone I've seen. I may just join the fray on this one too!
hamerhead Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Does anyone else think it's odd that the back of the headstock looks black, while the neck is blue?
Lou Posted November 15, 2007 Author Posted November 15, 2007 Just wanted to give my 2 cents on the Acoustic sound of the Duotone. I play one side thru a PAwith some effects & the electric side thru an amp. I can get nice acoustic sound without the feedbackand it's so much easier to play!! Some songs you blend both electric & acoustic and some I switch back & forth. It's just a real versatile guitar. The guitar has a spruce top, an ovation style bridge and it's a semi hollow body. It's really close to atraditional acoustic guitar plus the electric side is very good.
serial Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 My all-time favorite 3 hole Duo was the rainbow checkerboarded one. THAT was cool. I had a pic of that one years ago, but not sure where they are now. Probably stored on an old floppy disc.
holLoWskull Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Does anyone else think it's odd that the back of the headstock looks black, while the neck is blue? Looks blue on my monitor. I think I'm going to have to go back on my 'no more Hamers because I'm set' rule. That blue one would make a great 'stable mate' for my green Duotone so I think I'll have to join the bidding war for this guitar as well. Damn, just when I thought I was G.A.S. free too!
Rockola Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 That's the second i've seen. The first Duo-tone I ever played was that color at the now defunct Reliable Music. I remember it had some big-honkin frets with a bound neck.
