They're AWESOME and they waive the art setup fee when you reorder. They're inexpensive, and do great work.If you're looking for several thousand, you might actually get a better price directly from Dunlop.
bbobb24 Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 I used Clayton a couple of years ago and I'd be more than happy to use them again. Camstone already provided a link
serial Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 anyone but legend !!Really? I had some picks done there a few years back and they were the best picks (and the image DOESN'T rub off) I've ever gotten from a pick printer. Of course, I tried to re-order and the emails were pretty spotty to the point that I gave up for a while, but what probs did you have with them? They did take a few weeks, but nothing unusual.

Of course, I tried to re-order and the emails were pretty spotty to the point that I gave up for a while, but what probs did you have with them? They did take a few weeks, but nothing unusual. the print work was awesome. I have no complaints with that end of it.I still have some left and the print work does not come off.. however, the white celluloid that he used was/is junk. I have never had a pick disintegrate as fast as these did.halfway through a song , the face of my guitar would like someone threw baby powder at it.these are heavy gauge picks..I called legend right away and asked if he had been having any problems with his white picks ,he said none that he was a ware of, and followed with the celluloid he was getting at that time came from japan and it was not as good as the material that was made in the states back in the day.long story short, he offered to replace the gross of bad picks, I asked him to please do so... then I neverheard back from him on any of the 5-6 emails that I made in trying to obtain those replacements.I'll readily admit I am a very aggressive player, but I also use my fingers in pulling and popping style in conjunction with a pick so its not like the pick is being used constantly, the picks wear too fast... its really a case of poor quality celluloid and not taking care of a customer.had he taken care of me I'd have ordered another 2 gross of picks [ black instead] in the other designs I had going.I've never had to change picks after each song with any other brand pick or supplier....I am not kidding when i say I was going through 2 dozen picks a night...my fender picks dont fall apart... I would assume there are only a few celluloid suppliers worldwide these days?the other thing that kind of irked me was his style 351 picks look like a fender but are sized like a gibson,,, a bit shorter than the fenders. I like the extra length out on the fenders, it lends itself to my mutliple finger and pick technique...the gibby picks seem to get lost in my hand,of course there was no mention of the sizing when I ordered them,,but that was really minor in the big scheme of things.I am going to try either steve clayton or pickworld ...pickworld says that they used to do all of legends printing, but then cut him off. I am sure thats just business, nothing more.
serial Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 The ones I got from Legend are great and I was using them on bass (heavies) and some guitar. They last forever. I got mine in '04. I used the yellow Fender picks all of my life until '97 or so. They must have changed their supplier around that time, because the picks after that were really soft and powdered like you describe, so I know exactly what you're talking about. Agreed that I would have ordered at least another gross from Legend if I'd heard back from my emails (forwarding the design to use-not pestering emails or anything). The problem with a lot of these are that the picks suck or the printing lasts five minutes.
DavidE Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 I just use Fender 351 heavy picks in pearloid colors. It's fun to watch my red flame Ovation get covered in blue or green dust from the pick during the night.
peedenmark7 Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 well need less to say... celluloid isnt what it once was.there are no u.s. manufacturers that I am aware of , and most of it is coming from japan or somewhere in the orient.maybe I got a bad batch ? either way not a chance I'll take with him again.
morningstar Posted December 21, 2007 Author Posted December 21, 2007 Thanks guys. I went with Clayton. Overall it was much easier (and less expensive) than I thought. When I was stupid they fixed me real fast without any of the usual comments regarding my mental capacity. So far an excellent experience for you neighborhood technospaz.Happy Holly-daze!morningstar

cmatthes Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 I've used Legend (great picks, but limited options) and have gone through PickWorld (Wilmington Fibre) a couple of times. PickWorld has the best options and in my experience, great quality stuff. I'd just avoid the metallic foil prints - they look great, but aren't as durable as other colors. I tried Clayton about 8 years ago and found them to be expensive and the print quality just wasn't there. Hopefully, they've gotten it down by now! Let us know how things turn out, TM...
Guitarseh Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 I ordered from Legend (just before this thread started, naturally), so I'll give an update soon re the current quality of their celluliod Mark
