elduave Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Just a heads up, looks like we're getting one of the 25 Earthen Maple guitars as seen on Jol's blog. Deets as I get them...
gwayne Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Too cool. I've been checking the blog every day for updates.
cmatthes Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Very cool. Too late to specify crowns, right? Those look really cool. I'd love to get a look at them in person.
elduave Posted January 2, 2008 Author Posted January 2, 2008 Yup, Studio type, chambered. CM, I've got some Standards with Crowns ordered...
Travis Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I know nothing of these Earthen guitars. Tell me more.

BubbaVO Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 See post #1, and follow the "blog" link... No boomer inlays?
silentman Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I think these will have brazilian boards looking back at Jol's blog.
cmatthes Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 I think these will have brazilian boards looking back at Jol's blog. I think you're right. Those look amazingly cool. Not sure if these are the necks, but if so...wow:
atquinn Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 I think these will have brazilian boards looking back at Jol's blog.Yeah, I actually knew that, I was just joking. Considering regular Artist models tend to be a bit neck heavy, I wonder if they're going to do anything to mitigate the possible extreme neck-heaviness these more-chambered models might have? Anyway, it will be extremely cool to see how these turn out.-Austin
elduave Posted January 12, 2008 Author Posted January 12, 2008 A good look at what it will end up as:
Buzzy Fretts Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Just a heads up, looks like we're getting one of the 25 Earthen Maple guitars as seen on Jol's blog. Deets as I get them...so what the full buzz on these. I checked out the blog and it only archives to 10/07. I love the wicked tree-ness of what they are putting together. but the reason and/or concept behind the choices is not clear to me.

All the info. on these guitars has been shared via blog. From Jol:"...sometimes the availability of unique components or materials will prove too hard to resist.Recently, we were able to acquire just such a thing—a small quantity of figured maple with a very special pedigree. This curly stuff had been submerged in a bog of mud, and over time had absorbed various earth minerals, leaving amazing and exotic streaking. I call it "Earthen" maple to describe where the tiger got its stripes. We thought it would be a great foundation for a limited run of guitars, if we could dry it successfully."
Buzzy Fretts Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 sounds cool. thanks for the details dave.
Travis Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Anybody know what these are going to retail for? Or are they waiting to announce that at NAMM?
silentman Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 I would venture a guess that MSRP will be close to $4000 or up since a studio custom is $3500 now.
Travis Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Yup. That's the pic that is making me think of ponying up for one of those beauties.
Travis Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Unofficially, list is $5100.Dayum. Not surprised. But dayum.
