Hamer guitars everywhere in early 90's mags...

A friend of mine just gave me a bunch of old guitar mags from the late 80's / early 90's. I see Hamer ads everywhere -- BTW, Jeff Watson models are particularly abundant... This makes me wonder: are Hamer glory days gone? B)

I wouldn't say that at all. That's just another era that passed, certainly doesn't mean that the "glory days" have passed them by.

They've built almost as many Watsons recently as they did back then, BTW!

With sites like this, who really needs advertising. They want to stay small and put out "boutique" guitars. Cool beans. Bigger ain't better - just look at General Motors and Ford about the pursuit of volume. B)

I think their "glory" days are right now. I would like to see more innovative guitars like the Talladega and I have to give more credit to the Monaco line than I have in the past - although every time I look at one I think of the Beluga whale's forehead or, if I've been listening to Wham and looking at Kizanski's signature  , the image of the Pac-Man comes to mind.

In the early 90's Hamer was making about 80 guitars a weeks. Now they make about 20 guitars a week. The company had more guitars to sell back then, so they advertised more often.

I Bet the 20 a week they push out now are KILLER Guitars (extra time usually means Extra special Guitars B) ) more Love in the wood more Love out! B):lol:B)

Hamer ads currently appear in every issue of Fretboard Journal, Guitar Player, Guitarist, Guitar & Bass and Vintage Guitar. Those are just the magazines I see, I'm sure there are more. In short, Hamer guitars are everywhere in the guitar mags in 2008. Are these the glory years?

Yeah, but do they say "Hamer Rocks Hard" ???

I don't know, it seems to me I've seen a full-page color advert in nearly every guitar player for the last year or so. Maybe a picture of Jol pouring over his latest masterwork just isn't as eye-catching as a snakeskin shredder-weilding hair farmer in spandex. B)

Whoops, 3 posts since I started trying to spell "snakeskin shredder-weilding hair farmer in spandex", including BadgerDave's, which says the same thing better.
