I've waited 24 years for this and I have floor seats in Columbus in just over a month... If the tour is falling apart, I will be beyond disappointed.

Nice venue, but small area population. Tickets were still available yesterday. It's supposedly "postponed", and they will hopefully be coming at a later date. There was ice in the weather forecast, which may be the reason for the sudden postponement. (No ice so far, but ice pretty much shuts things down here in Charlottesville.)

Hopefully it's a temporary thing.I hear what you're saying about the ice - I was in Petersburg one time when they got a couple inches of snow. It shut the entire town down...
BTMN Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 They played Tampa Monday night and everything was cool. Rave review in the St. Pete Times.
jettster Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Please tell me this is weather related or some other fluke. I've waited 24 years for this and I have floor seats in Columbus in just over a month... If the tour is falling apart, I will be beyond disappointed. If the sound is anything like it was in Atlanta you will be beyond disappointed anyway. I've been a regular concert goer for close to 30 years, by a wide margin this was the worst I have ever heard. Even when there was only one instrument, vocals, bass, guitar or whatever it sounded like a muddy mess. Bad enough to where it was a struggle to enjoy the show. It's a shame because it seemed like they would have sounded pretty good if it had not been for the sound system. This review is pretty kind overall but some of the responses afterwards accurately describe the sound.Atlanta reviewThis one in particular:What a pitiful excuse for a sound mixing job at last night’s concert. We were high up to the left of the stage and the sound was horrible. You couldn’t distinguish individual instruments, notes, lyrics, anything. It was just one loud muddled mess of noise. Usually you were a minute or two into the song before you recognized one of their classic songs. Eddie’s solo’s were amazing however. Overall a major disappointment. Sound engineer should be fired.
DavidE Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 The sound in Cleveland was very good if not excellent. Much better than the last tour with Sammy.
cmatthes Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 The sound in DC was excellent from my vantage point. In fact, it was one of the better shows I've seen in a few years and I'm a frequent concertgoer. I saw Genesis and the Police within 2 weeks on either side of VH in the same venue, and VH blew the other two away in every respect.I'm going to the Bawlmer show with my 13-year old, so hopefully that won't be postponed. He'd be crushed.Anybody find out what the "official" explanation was for the postponing?
HamerHokie Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 They played Tampa Monday night and everything was cool. Rave review in the St. Pete Times. A friend of mine went to that one and had nothing but negative things to say. Said that Eddie went off on his guitar and ended up injuring his hand.
BTMN Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 WOW! Had not heard anything about that. I blew my ticket money and did not attend.

It's a shame because it seemed like they would have sounded pretty good if it had not been for the sound system.I wonder why the sound has been so sporadic at various shows. Some have been great (according to ppl attending) and then I’ve seen video of Eddie throwing a monitor speaker off the stage because he couldn’t hear anything at another show etc. Even though the show we saw (ATL) wasn’t good sound-wise I don’t blame VH. It seems like they’ve been having problems with their sound ppl. I know one of the vice presidents at the Philips Arena and he stressed that it’s VH’s hand-picked sound company and doesn’t have anything to do with their venue. Anyway, it seems like they’d either fire them (but it may be too hard to get a replacement on short notice) or at least you would think they’d have their act together this far into the 2nd leg of the tour! Anyway, I had seen several shows with the other singers but I was very happy to see DLR w/ VH because it had been 30 years of waiting for it!I hope they can stick together and make an awesome album (crossing fingers).
DavidE Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Valerie was on The Today Show this morning. She said that Wolfie is home right now because the band is taking a short break.
MCChris Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Valerie was on The Today Show this morning. She said that Wolfie is home right now because the band is taking a short break. A break when shows were scheduled. YouTube of the alleged Florida dust-up:
MCChris Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 At least two based on what I've read on other forums.
cmatthes Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Three total - two last week and I think one in October. For some reason, I seem to recall it being in MO (St. Louis maybe?).It was around a week or so before I saw them in DC, because I remember getting that brief flash of "Oh crap, they couldn't hold it together long enough for me to see 'em again!".
silentman Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Sound is subjective. In a big arena the with all the reflections, it's not gonna sound good everywhere.
