elduave Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 I post for discussion's sake, not a promo, but anyway. I picked up Cort. It's (hopefully) filling the "less than a Schecter" price point with a product I can sell and not have to gloss over the fact that the truss rod is backwards or some stupid PITA deffect. I just can't sell crap guitars to people. Out of the batch that came in, the G200 Srat types are really nice, the G250 with Wilky, bucker, pearl guard and brushed chrome hardware is nicer, the X5 Ibanez style is a bit dissapointing in that the headstock looks less "Ibanez-y" than the catalog, the X42 (I think) is really cool and light, with what's either a ESP or BC Rich-y angular carve top. Overall I'm happy with them. We'll see how they do. Now. What lines does the Cort company make in their Korean and Indonesian facilities?SchecterBC RichEpiphoneFenderAlvarezG&L Tribute (no longer)Fernandes (I think)Edited to add Ibanez...Any others? Add your Cort facts here!
David B Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 I had a few Cort Effectors from the Sears catolog when I was young . They looked good.
atquinn Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 I always like the look of Cort's G-series guitars. They use to have one with an HSH layout and the buckers were covered. The Hiram Bullock sig model maybe?-Austin
elduave Posted April 17, 2008 Author Posted April 17, 2008 You're the 3rd person to bring up the HB model this week. My cuz brought up someone else I can't remember. What where some other (past) Cort guys?
geoff_hartwell Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 I have a bolt-on explorer-shaped White-with-black-spiderweb-graphic Cort that I love dearly. My dad even asked me about it when he came to a gig recently. Great fun.
SteveB Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Doesn't Matt "Guitar" Murphy have a signature Cort?
elduave Posted April 17, 2008 Author Posted April 17, 2008 Doesn't Matt "Guitar" Murphy have a signature Cort? That's the one I was thinking of. Thanks!
hamerboy_ Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Bassist T.M Stevens is/was a Cort endorser. As well as former Hamer endorser and fellow Clevelander Neil Zaza.-Bobby
silentman Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Cort stuff is pretty nice. Much better than the Cort stuff I remember when I was just learning to play
Guest JackButler Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Back in the retail days I sold a ton of Cort stuff.. the Matt Murphy's are REALLY cool guitars.
hamertek98 Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 I remember a Cort "V" years ago had a little light that told you if you were active or passive. I'm guessing 23-25 years ago. Nice necks. Like someone above said... T.M. Stevens on basses. How did they get him from Warwick?
frank_c Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 i have one of those Cort Steinberger copies...the mini-Strat one.
edgar_allan_poe Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 I played a Cort Zazza that was a great guitar. I was surprised that it was that good. I think they offer great bang for the buck Dave, you should do well with them IMHO.
Lockbody Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 i have one of those Cort Steinberger copies...the mini-Strat one.I've got one of their Steinberger bass copies. The electronics bit, but the neck-through construction is so solid I think you could play baseball with the thing and it would still be in tune.
