BCR Greg Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I just got the email, and the first order ships today! I will offer an additional discount to any HFC members that identify themselves as such. My first order is all tube(valve) heads...JVM 50 watts, Vintage Modern 50s, Kerry King 100s, various cabinets and 50 VM combos. I am stoked, as the newest stuff from Marshall is of a quality that seems better than a few years ago, when they approached me about being one of the family. The Vintage Modern heads are awesome. There is a minimum advertised price that is ironclad, but if you call me on the phone I can possible make your day. I will NOT sell the stuff at 10% above cost, so don't waste our time with such a request, please. Off we go!
zzdat Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I've been using a 50 watt Vintage Modern for about a year now, and they do bring on the the real deal vintage Marshall roar. I've recieved many compliments on tone from sound guys and guitar players using that head.Cool BeansGene
harry65 Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 been thinkin about a 1987x for a while now, might have to look into this...................
bubs_42 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 The KK head is a great sounding amp. If they rebadge it, I'd buy it! The Vintage/Mod, take it or leave it.. But Congrat's Greg hope it works for ya.. O' that 4 channel beast that they have was a great sounding amp..
Mike Lee Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 The Randy Rhoads Signature 100 watter is one of the best Marshall tones I've ever heard - we ran one full up at the winter NAMM show and it sounded perfect.
KH Guitar Freak Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 My current GAS are the JTM 45 and the 1987X, but I can only choose one to keep the bank balance healthy...
cornjulio Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 I'm a big Marshall fan. I met Jim Marshall when I was 16 and got his autograph.Still have a couple of amps but my favorite is my 100 watts Jubilee Half Stack. It's just fockin' heavy...

peedenmark7 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 greg, will they be doing any small runs for you ? if so , put me on the list for a rerun of the 2555 heads.
BCR Greg Posted August 26, 2008 Author Posted August 26, 2008 Two trucks worth of gear here. It's LOUD.
BCR Greg Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 How I spent the last two hours......... I was using these...... Something old, something new...........
KH Guitar Freak Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Edited for the obvious, or possibly the way less obvious reasons, whichever way you want to make it as obvious...
BCR Greg Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 The secret to the Vintage Modern is to dime the master and use the individual preamps to get the tone.
HamerHokie Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 The secret to the Vintage Modern is to dime the master and use the individual preamps to get the tone.Do you have to use an overdrive to goose it or does it have enough gain to get crunchy that way?
Crwth145 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Hey... It's not that "dark purple" colour... ;^]
BCR Greg Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 Hokie...it gets PLENTY crunchy if you pick hard, like me. Then you kick in the gain channel and it's killer. Like going from a good JMP to a Jubilee on the lead channel.Crowth, it is that dark purple color, but the pic doesn't show it well.

silentman Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Really nice amp. A friend had one on loan for a while. Not my bag, but if you are into the Marshall thing, you'll love it.
