Ranger Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Hey Now,I'm hoping folks can provide information on this Korean Slammer Series tele copy, serial number 437221. I am aware that, of the imports, the Korean are the better. And I know that American-made Hamers are a whole different class of quality than any imports. So, what 'choo know? Thanks!(I give up on trying to attach an image!!!!)
cmatthes Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 (I give up on trying to attach an image!!!!)It is really easy..REALLY easy.
zorrow Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I think old Korean Slammer series are quite good -- nothing to do with current "Slammer by Hamer" junk. But well, I know nothing about that guitar of yours. Anyway, please read the guidelines and post a couple of pictures for us!
serial Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Oddly enough (very oddly), that number (I can't see the image if there is one) is correct for a USA T-51 from 1994.
BTMN Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Welcome! What exactly does it say on the headstock? Is there a small usa next to the Hamer logo? If so You got lucky if you paid used import pricing! Cant wait to see it.
Ranger Posted October 4, 2008 Author Posted October 4, 2008 Hit the "IMG" button above the text box, paste in the FULL PATH to the image, and hit the "IMG" button again (or "Close Tags"). You will see something that looks like this: . In this example, your image will appear within your typed message. http://i382.photobucket.com/albums/oo266/M...er/Hamer1-1.jpgammer"></a> http://i382.photobucket.com/albums/oo266/M...erialNumber.jpg http://i382.photobucket.com/albums/oo266/M...nger/Hamer2.jpg Dang! Including a photo is not easy for me. Every time I "Hit the "IMG" button..." I get an error message that says "You must enter a URL." I don't know what an URL is. The headstock says "HAMER" and under that, in smaller case, it says "SLAMMER SERIES" On the back of the headstock it says "SERIAL NUMBER 437221 MADE IN KOREA" I've searched the web and have not been able to find a pic of this guitar. The headstock is black, the neck is blonde, the body is reddish but you can see the grain (so, not painted) and the pick guard is black with white trim. With the exception of the 22 frets and the top pickup, the hardware is all "gold colored". Obviously I don't know the right names for the parts of the guitar. (Fishing is my thing.) I do know it looks like a tele, with the two pickups, faceplate with volume knob, tone knob and 3-way pickup switch. Hmmmmmm.....hope that detail helps you help me. THANKS!
zorrow Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Quite cool! But well, even if those old Korean Hamers kicked some serious arse, all the attetion still goes to the American ladies. What do you exactly want to know?
BTMN Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Lil help for the new guy. After you have cut the address of your photo and are ready to post it, in the post a reply field there is a lil pic of a tree click on that and paste the addy in there and follow the prompt. Took me awhile too and now I make those on dialup suffer. Definately a Hamer Slammer Series Korean made Hamer. Cool looking. If you like that you would LOVE it's USA version called the T51. Pretty cool that you import serial number matchs a USA version from '94. Your's looks to be an Ash body with an all Maple neck. I have 3 Slammer Series guitars currently and have owned a couple others too. Great guitar for the bucks usually. There was one like your's at a pawn shop in Columbus, Ohio a while back but when I went back to get it the shop had closed for good but the stuff was still in the place but it was padlocked. It was priced $175 and it was 4 years ago at least.
Siaip Ciuvas Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Regarding "You must enter URL!" error its pretty simple - Internet Explorer automatically blocks scripted content and you need to temporary allow scripts by clicking on small info tab on upper area of browser. Mods - you can update FAQ on image posting with this workaruond, I guess its valid for IE7.
zorrow Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 (...)I have 3 Slammer Series guitars currently(...) Do you have a shredder amongst them you might want to sell?
BTMN Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Actually I have 4. I have a Slammer Series Special and 3 Slammer Series Flattop Sunburst models. Sorry no shredder styles in the bunch. Funny thing, yesterday I got a pm from the guy I bought one of the Flattops from and he is "jonesing" to buy it back. Think I'll let him but I "cant let the wife know".
Ranger Posted October 4, 2008 Author Posted October 4, 2008 Thanks for the info folks. I bought the guitar, an older tube Yammaha 4 Channel Mixer, a distortion pedal and a little bitty Fender amp for $100 total. The guitar's face plate was off, and a Kalamazoo Gibson retiree, Pete Marino, fixxed it for $75.It's tragic that I have such a desire to play but little real talent. Like, I've been working on learning the Munster's theme for 2 years now. I have a cheap Fender acoustic that I like to play better than the Hamer. I've been working on Ripple (Dead) for about 14 months on the Fender. Perhaps some disciplined practice might help.
Ranger Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 Couple nights ago half dozon folks showed up to party and we all ended up gooffing around with my guitars, harps and various hand drums. One new-to-me guy began playing the Hamer and I was amazed at how great it sounded. (Crate 65w amp) He was impressed, too; in fact he became concerned that the expensive(?)ESP guitar he's just ordered won't be as nice as he found the Hamer import to be. He kept saying how nice he liked the fit and finish, how well it felt to play, and how he's never seen a guitar that's strings sat so low to the fretboard. Anyway, I felt like a proud pappa.
ceeb Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Dang! Including a photo is not easy for me. Every time I "Hit the "IMG" button..." I get an error message that says "You must enter a URL." I don't know what an URL is.You have to allow pop-ups from this site (at least temoprarily) That will get rid of that error message.
Ranger Posted July 24, 2011 Author Posted July 24, 2011 This poser has had enough. I'll never be a decent player and the killer Hamer has to go somewhere. So it's goin' on the wall until my estranged son comes around and I give him his git. Until then I'll complete replacing all my Honers with Oskars and get along in life. But I'll never sell that Hamer. Ever.
