thecajunboy Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Looks like Musician's Friend has bought Harmony Central. I guess now you can read a review and click a button to buy one.
jwhitcomb3 Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Wasn't Harmony Central run by Zzounds a few years back? It will be interesting to see what changes.-Jonathan
adferreira Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Hope that it dosen't mean they'll remove the Rip Glitter reviews. Those crack me up.
DaveL Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Don't get me wrong, I LOVE harmony centralbut I swear that place is crawling with Nigerian scammers, whack jobs who want to trade guns your guitar, orguys who review $1800 amps while using a $150 guitar.
anotherfreak2 Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 ......When I'm not pulling double shifts at Walgreens, I'm spending my time the way any true rocker knows how -- banging HEADS and banging SLUTS, with some quality brew time with my good buddy Dino on the side. Whether it's shredding out with my new band SLUTBANGER, or my side project LETHALICON, I always keep the intense metal mayhem BURNING like the crotch of a Vietnamese whore. You know what I'm talking about. GO RIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! edited to add........ How could you not trust a review by such a master of language, I bet he really knows gear
morningstar Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 That sort of stuff strikes me as contrived garbage from some 13 year old. Stupid, not funny. You can be funny as hell without looking stupid, childish or bigoted. Where the hell is Rechts when we need him?morningstar
Hamer95USA Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Hey guys, I can't believe that Musician's Friend (Guitar Center in sheep's clothing) has bought shares of Harmony Central website. The enemy has bought up a well known musician's forum. You'll see nothing but advertising and pop ups from Guitar Center on that website for products they sell, which are usually things we don't need, already have or of poor quality. They'll control all of the musician's forums with administrators or mediators to stop people from badmouthing Guitar Center, the poor customer service or products they sell. The forums on Harmony Central are already poorly administrated with a lot of people bashing each other what gear or products the other guy uses. It's actually pretty silly, but can be funny reading it sometimes. Their musician's and equipment classifieds section wasn't bad, but the equipment classifieds was a place for equipment thieves to run rampant and commit Internet fraud to unsuspecting buyers. The musician's classified was ok. I liked reading the equipment review sections in user reviews. I can guage from the reaction of the music playing public to see if a product was worth checking out or buying. I take those reviews with a grain of salt. This is the forum where Guitar Center might try to change things around to their advantage by censoring negative reviews on poor equipment. Hopefully, Harmony Central and Guitar Center will do something good with the website. We'll have to wait and see. Guitar George

DaveL Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 somebody needs to link that Ed Roman review... That was funny...
Stevieconlon Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 I am also concerned regarding whether the user reviews section will be "sanitized."
darc Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Advertising will run rampant, no doubt. Hopefully the line between user reviews and manufacturer/ retailer comments will be very clear. As for the user reviews we have to just hope that MF would never have the time or resources to review and edit all that content. Places like zZounds and Amazon are the only sources I know of where I can actually find negative opinions about anything. When was the last time a Guitar Player review (for instance) concluded with, "we wouldn't recommend this item." Not in my lifetime. Man, that would be refreshing.
Armitage Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 I wonder what happens when someone types a bad review of Musicians Friends service or a product bought there?
Cheap Chick Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Why is it when I think of Guitar Center and Musician's Friend, I think of this....
kurtsstuff Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Great.....Now I have to boycott Harmony Central too?? Wonder when the "fee's" will kick in...Too bad..I've had some really good transactions in the past off of H.C. Guitar Center and Musicians Friend (same thing)...are like a case of Herpes that just gets bigger and bigger and won't go away. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MUSIC STORES AND THEY WILL SUPPORT YOU!!!! I know alot of people will continue to support the G.C and M.F. because they may be able to save a few bucks here and there but..I really would'nt want them as customers anyways seeing as they really don't give a damn about anybody but themselve's and could care less whether the mom and pop store down the road lives or dies as long as they get what they want and pay as little as humanly possible. Don't get me wrong...I'm all for a good deal myself but...not at the expense of twisting someones nut's off at the local independant store...Man...I get so pissed over stuff like this cuz I have to deal with dickheads all day long that seem to bow at the shrine of Guitar Center...idiots...someday...they'll get a clue...I'm done with my rant....thank you...hehe
