silentman Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Not my favorite color for a cali, but still seems high value - especially in this market.
hamerjunkie Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 If it had the boomers going all different ways (like Vernon Reid`s), a Sustainiac, a custom finish, reverse headstock, and was within driving distance to get a look at it before bidding...........then $1900 may not be a bad deal........
zorrow Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Yeah, it is overpriced... but the guy is accepting offers and it's a buyer's market at this point. Just try him and you might be surprised --that's how that white boomered Vector ended in my hands. BTW, that Cali is absolutely gorgeous.
simon074 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Sold at 1950.00! I don't feel bad at all for the ones I bought. It seems the price is going way up on these.
Jem Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Another insane price - christ knows what my lot are worth nowadays, much more of this and i'll have to start selling them purely down to greed
zidane99 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 An insane price for sure.....but, definitely worth it. I am kicking myself. These are impossible to find.

Jem Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Man!! I gotta get my head out of the mid 90's prices frame of mindSell my crap way too cheap I'm thinkin....Not even mid 90's - the last Cali (a standard in midnight blue metalflake) i brought from the states was in 2005 and was under the standard insult price !
holLoWskull Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 The seller had that guitar on craiglsist at least two or three times for around $2K IIRC. As for them being rare or hard to find, not more than 2 or 3 months ago two Cali Elites came up for sale right here on the HFC. In fact you'll probably see even more come up for sale here if buyers keep paying these kind of prices for them. Speaking from first hand experience if people are patient and take the time to search around these guitars can still be found for half (or less) of what these recent ebay prices have been.

The one that was just listed was listed for the first time. Didn't even last a week. You can check if you type in Hamer Californian Elite and then check "completed listings". I have not seen one for close to $1000 in a while. Everything is $1600 minimum, and that's beat up. I am kicking myself still for not making an offer.
simon074 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Neither one of my Elites were beat up. I'm the one that bought the two on ebay. The green one and the amber one.

If the posts aren't still there, both Cali Elites where red metalflake Elite's being sold by HFC'ers. Rocktuna's was $1000 obo and Kurtstuff's was $1100. IIRC correct there was an older thread posted by Kurt saying what he paid for that guitar off craigslist...which was well under $1K. I picked up Rocktuna's on a 'best offer' we both could live with, and I can assure you that although it had a few minor finish blemishes it was far from beat up. As I said, these guitars can still be found for half and sometimes less of what they seem to be fetching on ebay if buyers are patient and get out of this mindset that these guitars are so rare that you have to spend top dollar for one or you won't find another.
zidane99 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Neither one of my Elites were beat up. I'm the one that bought the two on ebay. The green one and the amber one.I saw those. They were sweet.

simon074 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 1700.00 and 2800.00 and I don't regret it at all. They are something I always wanted in the 80's. So now that I can afford it, I took the plunge. I don't mind paying for quality guitars. Look at what PRS or even Ernie Ball costs. It's within the same price range.

So if you want one just as a player and not a collector it is better to buy before the price rises even more in the future.
