bubs_42 Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Great looking guitar, and it almost derailed my Monaco purchase. I'm going to get on for my next guitar. All minor issue. Lets be honest, he's probly just and upfront seller. If you bought another from ebay a little cheaper you'll probly endup with the same bumps and such. http://cgi.ebay.com/2005-HAMER-NEWPORT-USA...A1%7C240%3A1318

Adi top, sapelle back and sides, mahogany neck, ebony fretboard. I love it! Great big dreadnought sound, I can be very aggresive, but it's not boomy. I'll have to get a photobucket account show you guys some pics.
atquinn Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Why hasn't it sold? Doesn't have an ebony fretboard. Oh wait, that's why it hasn't sold to me -Austin

bubs_42 Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 I think it's a tad bit high for a non-bigsby, especially in this market. Maybe he's counting on somebody using their Live Search cashback or something... Live's not got much going right now.
mirrorimij Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I think the Newport Pro model would be more popular if the stop tailpiece was placed in the traditional position. I understand why it was done but it just doesn't look "right" to me. It should have been a trapeze to get the effect Jol was going for or a stop TP in the "correct" position.

Put a Sustainblock and a Flametop and call it a day..
DaveL Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 It sounds like the seller is being a straight shooter, but at thesame time he says it's in "good" condition and has a few dings and fretwear. If it were my guitar and it's on the 2nd go roundwith no bites, I'd assume, a price tweak is in order or that I need better/clearer pics...
rooster69f Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Well, the real reason is that the price is too high for this particular guitar. And for two reasons:1) No Bigsby, as someone pointed out earlier (not that I would want one, but that does seem to get a much better price for this guitar).2) The color. It doesn't bother me, but this color doesn't sell... at least on Evilbay. I have seen several in this color the past few months. They only seem to sell when price is at around $750-$800.
bubs_42 Posted April 7, 2009 Author Posted April 7, 2009 That guitar is an incredible value. I agree.

Those are both positives for me. But if it doesn't have an ebony fretboard, I'm out!-Austin
geoff_hartwell Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 +100. I have an identical one that I love the hell out of. The fully-hollow body and spruce top are an incredible match, and this one doesn't even have neck-joint Hamer-itis like mine! GH That guitar is an incredible value. I agree.

The strings feel a little looser but you also need to bend a little more to get the same amount of pitch bend. It doesn't feel bad, but it might throw some people off.

He told me that he wanted the stop tailpiece model to have the same "feel" as the bigsby model.
