No need to engage in Jem's scheme- just sell the Cali limited that DHL sent you for a hefty price. Appears they're fetching it these days...

DHL? Hey Bubs, I think I know what was in that shipment

$2,400 for that one is not (in my opinion) reflective of the current value. Something fishy is going on there.

If somebody paid that much for that guitar in 2010, they just got hosed.

Agreed. $1500 would be the tops for one in super-clean condition. If someone paid or offered more, they'll never come close to getting their $ out of it should they ever decide to sell. These just aren't at all rare.

I've seen a few that appear to have shipped with EMGs.

Jeez, I would gladly lay down 1500 for a clean Limited or Custom with reverse head stock. <ahem>

I live in Charlotte and have tried contacting this guy with no success. I was going to go check it out and see what was up. I am a little familiar with the Cali's as I have a Chaparral and one custom Chap on order with Hamer.

Will let yall know if I am able to contact him.

$2400 is too high imo. That is flame cali auction price. $1500 sounds more realistic - but either way, I think this deal will be a scrambling mess all the way tll the end. I'm staying away.

I'm very on the fence over this my west country bretheren, the last one cut me up quite badly - strange to be so attached to a guitar that i hardly played through fear of scratching it

This has happened before - people who have absolutely no interest in purchasing contact the seller to queer the deal.

I don't understand it.

(for the record, it was a great price, but I had no intention of buying nor contacting the seller!)

M8 totally understood you're purple one is in perrrfect nick - you know me I'd have that black sparkly one off you in a second! - especially with the nocturne touch!

'ere me baba, it's one kv dem gert special caaaaaliforniaaaans, innit?!

I can't get the image of Biffa Bacon out of my head reading this.

I should clarify that if I can get in contact with this guy and I can see and play the guitar, all things considered, I would buy the guitar contingent on the price.

I saw the ad as well and tried to reach the seller but he hasn't responded.

Being a self-proclaimed lover of all USA Hamers sprayed in purple I saw the ad the night it came out and contacted the seller the next day. Then I saw the post here on the HFC and said to myself well I guess I can forget about that guitar. Under $1K and I was in the race like the others who e-mailed/called the seller, but if somebody here is willing to lay out $2,400 for that guitar then more power to you my friend(s). Honestly even $1,500 seems on the high side to me if you're buying it sight unseen. Cool guitar that would have been a good buy for somebody at $995, but as usual these CL ads get out of control once people start e-mailing the seller with offers that are in the stratosphere.

Wow. Not sure how to feel about being contacted today by seller. Special... screwed? I'm not touching it for that amount...

Finnbar Saunders would be proud.

Methinks I did the right thing steerin clear of that Cali Limited quicksand. Just got an email from the dealer I ordered a custom shop ax through. I might not ever get my <sniff> reverse Cali but I will have a custom shop ax made to my specs and for about the same amount (give or take a hunnert) that dude wanted for the Cali. Still want a reverse heady Cali. Don't kid yerself. If you have one, I got the checkbook. HFC bro's rate that kinda honor.

Who's making your custom shop guitar?

Bizzare thing for me is i make the closest thing you can get to a Cali yet i'm reluctant to get rid of any of mine - well odd

Methinks you did the right thing as well if he was offering it up to you for $2,400. Have patience and eventually you'll find one for a more reasonable price. I owned a reverse headstock purple Cali Elite w/ EMG's (plus it had a bound fretboard!) years ago (though it was a 94' and not part of the 89' run), and in the end it was just another Cali Elite that ended up getting sold. Cool guitars, but it's hard for me to justify paying double the fair market value on a Cali Elite for what really amounts to a purple paint job, reverse headstock, and 3 extra digits stamped into the headstock....or maybe I'm just cheap? If you're buying a Cali LE as a collector then I'd think it best to wait for one that's in pristine shape to eventually show up for sale and then empty the checking account if you absolutely must have one in the stable.

Hollowskull says this best.

Jem's stuff looks fanfreakingtastic, btw. If I was ever going to order one, it'd be a Nocturne.

I thank you for your kind words sir, obviously there are special rates for HFC members......although $350 isn't one of them

I'm guessing there never was a 2.4k offer, just some guy to who ruined the deal saying it was worth that much - and now the seller will be worked down to $1200-1400.
