ctrixie Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 I would have the admins move all of these type of threads that having nothing to do with Hamers, guitars, music, etc to the Outer Circle. Let everyone mudwrestle over there and let everyone over here talk about what most people come here to talk about. + 1
elduave Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 That is unless the mudwrestling is beteen CTrixie & Cheap Chick. Sorry George, and sorry ladies. You know how EL rolls sometimes. Besos!
JohnnyB Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 That is unless the mudwrestling is beteen CTrixie & Cheap Chick. ... Especially if there's pix!
Guest pirateflynn Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Please don't pull the posts. I think things should be open for discussion. It's up to the individuals to act with good manners and with consideration for their fellow members who might not be involved in a hot topic.
hikarateboy Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 I like the outer circle as it is. The main reason that the outer circle was started was that Hamer was concerned that when things like this or Boobies showed up on the main board little johnny just visiting with out being anymore than a member would see it and call Kaman saying Lil johnny saw this on the Hamer board. So far it's worked.People argue about everything over there but its done with this crazy element of civility which is the closest thing to a modern day miracle as I have ever witnessed. The outer circle is also a special area for supporters (which keeps lil johnny just a member out) so I would hate to inflict a boring thread like that on the visitors over there. Maybe its time for another forum. One that is similar to flaming piper cub board or whatever that is. People can have access to by request wether they are supporters or not and it would strictly deal in flame wars. Dare we call it "Where's Alpep?" Is this idea supported (sans the name that was a joke)?
Wrecks Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Ted, would I be pushing it if I posted an anonymous poll asking how many people want to see Greg answer my 2 questions?
pesocaster Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Is this idea supported (sans the name that was a joke)? Could we call it Fight club? ha ha ha haor how about "Rants and Raves".... just so it has a CHANCE of being positive as welll
atquinn Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 I find the meg-flame threads interesting in a car-wreck sort of way, but I think it would be better if threads like that were moved somewhere, so that casual passers-by wouldn't get a bad impression of Hamer from them. However, I'm pretty sure you're not making any money off of this so how much time are you willing to spend baby-sitting the board? Maybe it's time to deputize some members? Or would that just make the problem worse?-Austin
morningstar Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 OC is great the way it is.Maybe a new forum with the name "Bicker and Kvetch" ?Oed's questions are fascinating. I'd like to hear the other side...your mileage may varymorningstar
Guest galejt Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Ted, would I be pushing it if I posted an anonymous poll asking how many people want to see Wrecks get banned as well?
Wrecks Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 ...to be followed by a poll asking how many people want to see me do a "pAnZy" job on galejitbag?
Guest Mike Lee Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Ted,How about fixing Wrecks' account so he go back to being "Ed Rechts". And while you're at it, how about giving him access to the Outer Circle? We all know he was a supporter prior to moving to the new board software. His posts really belong in the O.C. anyway, and maybe he is suffering from withdrawl. And since this is "our" board how about a more democratic approach to banning members? I think a lot of this stuff would die down if Alpep were allowed back on the board with the stipulation that rehashing of past "dealer wars" is strictly off limits. Off limits for the "other side" as well.Basically, bury the hatchet and move on from today forward. I think a lot of people could live with that.Maybe we should have a vote?
billhart22 Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Let people say what they have to say....I am a former big moderator of a very significant board. I quit because it burnt me out....but being artists and having opinions of people, it is a necessity. Not pretty, or comfortable, but real...they don't go on forever.... If you don't like the subject...then stay the hell out of it...if you don't know what you are talking about....then stay the hell out of it....if you have substantial presentable evidence...then present it..Think about it...Bill
Guest pirateflynn Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 I have seen nothing that is really friendly...there is nothing humorous between members...and new members...there is just a staunch realization that the old crew rules and shares their intimate knowledge...there really isn't a whole lot of fun on this board... There is some truth in that.

Wrecks Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 What some of us consider sharing knowledge (i.e., fraudulent dealers poaching on this MB) others consider "flaming". Hey, tomaytoh, tamahtoh, right?
HamerHokie Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Maybe its time for another forum. One that is similar to flaming piper cub board or whatever that is. People can have access to by request wether they are supporters or not and it would strictly deal in flame wars. Dare we call it "Where's Alpep?" Is this idea supported (sans the name that was a joke)? Why?I am looking at the results of your poll and the overwhelming majority is saying NO. Doing what you suggest would be ignoring the data you got from this poll.
Guest teefus2 Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 there really isn't a whole lot of fun on this board... Thats what happens when the mods and Ted let certain people rule the whole board. Al Pep wasn't the first dealer to end up off this board for one reason or another. Probably won't be the last.

Matt Mattson Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 "Doing what you suggest would be ignoring the data you got from this poll." No it isn't. The information isn't removed or banned, it's simply put in another place so a guitar board can talk about guitars and not a couple of dealers. Look at what you've got -- a guy who obviously feels he or a friend is wronged and is hellbent for revenge and feels somehow it is his duty to protect the world . . . You have a legitimate dealer (at least Hamer has him on their website and guitars ordered by him for customers so he must be legit in their eyes) getting pounded to a pulp and another who has evidently already been pounded (Al) previously. You have a bunch of us looking on in astonishment at the childishness of it all. On the Hamer website: click on "Dealer Locator" and plug in your state and click go . . . and everyone will find there are quite litterally dozens to choose from. Perhaps you want to do as I did: 1. pick a model 2. plug it into Google 3. find the absolute rock bottom price 4. cross check to make sure it is an authorized dealer on the Hamer list 5. order your guitar with your specs (any dealer can do it) and specify it be delivered direct from Hamer (that way if there's any problems you're dealing direct with the factory and not some dealer -- you just want the best price from the dealer -- that's it on that). 6. plunk the money down, contact Hamer to make sure it is ordered, and wait. It's all pretty simple. I got a beautiful custom guitar for $1930 that way. Good deal, bad deal, what deal it doesn't matter, I'm playing it and my other guitars. And some of you guys are stuck (for years?) arguing over TWO dealers out of dozens in every state and mail order houses that will order a guitar right out of the factory? You're kidding -- right? I take comfort in knowing some of you go to bed with your grudges and I have Serena Lorien . . . Good night. Matt Mattson http://www.treasuresites.com/z.htm
killerteddybear Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 No topic censorship. Period.Personally, I don't know the issues behind the flame wars and I honestly don't care. I take what I need & want from the board, and (I assume) the rest of the content is for other interests. Fair enough.Civility would be nice but it's not always possible.

Basically, bury the hatchet and move on from today forward. I think a lot of people could live with that. Done weeks ago, Jay apparently forgot his password. There was some talk on the museum board that he was suspended but when I checked the list of suspended accts his screen name was no where to be found. I contacted him and told him this was not the case (Jay I think you can verify that) and I reset his passwords for both accounts and told him about it. Forgotten password or never got one for the new board who knows.Re: suspension. I guess we are as democratic as a presidential veto. It's not like al wasn't warned numerous times. All the posts are still searchable on this forum see for yourself. Bury the hatchet? I couldnt agree more but apparently some HFCers that dont post here very often are unable to do this. there in the problem lies.In summary, I say screw it an buy from El Duave. Then there will be balance within the force until some hopped up storm tropper 12 months later decides they paid too much for their custom order or <insert your issue here> and we can all rail on him. <rinse and repeat with dealer du jour>Now where's another pic of that 3 p-90 standard? Lets get back to business
shankyboy Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 I am a member of a couple of other user groups and, quite honestly, I have been amazed at some of the mud slinging that goes on on this site. I see more irrelevant topics here than any where else. Perhaps the folks who manage this site can create some more topics in order to allow us people seeking specific information to avoid the BS that some of our less mature members seem to enjoy posting. Perhaps:1. Hamer Guitars (info only pertaining to Hamers)2. Non-Hamer Guitars3. Guitar & bass Amps4. PA gear & related questions5. Studio & recording6. Gigging & Performance subjects7. Musicianship8. Ranting and other off topic items.
