Disturber Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I have a 2002 Monaco Super Pro. It does not have the Tonepros stuff on it, (when did Hamer start using that as standard?)Does a tonepros bridge really improve tone & sustian to a hearable level? Is it worth the upgrade to a new bridge piece?
murkat Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 great for intonationwhen changing strings, etc.Locks everything down.In theory,No rattling, transfer of acoustic resonenceto the wood, etc.making a substantial difference isto the ears of the individual and instrument.
hamerhead Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I put a set on a Studio. The best part was the bridge stayed on when changing strings. There was no significant change otherwise. I may have been expecting too much, but they didn't justify all the hype. IMO.If you want more sustain, buy a Tone Press.
Armitage Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 They don't fall off when you change strings, and that's great, but not only did I not notice a change in tone when I put one on, I don't notice a difference when I loosen the screws... so I'd say no to the tone improvement.
Caddie Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Just my opinion, save your money. If you have a problem with the bridge staying on when changing strings change the strings one or two at a time.
BCR Greg Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Almost all of mine have TonePros, including the vintage Les Pauls.
Caddie Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Almost all of mine have TonePros, including the vintage Les Pauls. Don't get me wrong, I'm not challenging you. I just want your opinion. Why do you put it on all your guitars Greg? What did it do for you? Thanks.
Thundernotes Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I like 'em, especially the super-light tailpieces.
Disturber Posted November 4, 2011 Author Posted November 4, 2011 Ok. So it seems opinions are in both camps, as I expected. Perhaps its a bit like F-spaced humbuckers, some claim they can hear a difference, others - like me - don't hear much of a noticable difference at all. Or perhaps it's individual to each guitars, some benefit from a change, others are good as it is....?If I'd like to try one of those super light tailpieces, which size should I buy for a Hamer tom bridge?
Armitage Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 It's an easy tone test, back off the screws on one and see if you can hear a difference. Otherwise, it's just the convenience and security.
