Bloozguy Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I saw him with the Shuffle Kings a few years ago in the DFW area. Great player and a heck of a nice guy to boot. RIP Bugs!
django49 Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 One of a kind......Loved his "4 10s Win Again" amongst many others. Never saw him live, but did pick up some hard to find CDs of his live performances in Europe.
jisham Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Sad...used to see him quite often at Cheatham Street Warehouse in San Marcos, TX, where I went to college in the early 80s. Great player. RIP.
alantig Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 That sucks - I knew he was sick but didn't know he was that bad off. Saw him a couple times at Experience PRS, and he was awesome.RIP.Alan

Hamerica Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Really, really sad news here. Andy Timmons just posted a couple of hours ago "We'll miss you Bugs Henderson."For those that don't know Bugs it is unfortunate. I have seen Bugs ever since the late 70's, most of the guitars he has played with have gone on to be front men or some of the best sidemen in the business. It has been my pleasure to have been able to seen Bugs over the years and yes, it is with great sadness that Superman is gone, gone, gone. Kurt L Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Bugs Henderson kicked total ass! And he could talk some pretty serious trash onstage too, funny as hell. Always great music and lots of fun.I remember he played barefoot a lot of the time... hope those clouds feel good between his toes.RIP Bugs, and thanks for the good times!
cmatthes Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 I've seen him several times, and he was really great. I got to meet him and my sons got to see him play live/meet him a couple of times as well. A real talent, and he sure seemed like a great person.
kenjones Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 My Bugs Henderson stories:I was at the Dallas Guitar Show a couple of years ago. There was a knock on our hotel room door in the middle of the afternoon. I opened the door and it was Bugs. He looked really surprised, said he had the wrong room, and asked if he could come in to use our phone to call his wife to ask her his room number. My old band Big Swifty opened up for Bugs a few years ago at Dan Electros Guitar Bar in Houston. I was the only guitar player in the band at the time and I was really nervous playing to a room full of guitar players that had come there to see Bugs Henderson! Many, many years ago I saw Bugs play at The Pig (Greenbriar and Richmond). He had his guitar amp facing the back wall. I asked about it and he said it was rental amp, he didn't like the way it sounded, and that amp actually sounded better pointed away from him.
lincsman Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 RIP Mr Henderson.Sadly never got to see him play live

RIP.dude, you went to stephen f austin?! half my HS went there. No, I went to college at Southwest Texas State in San Marcos. Cheatham Street is actually still there, and I was fortunate to not only gig there in college, but also see Bugs, Eric Johnson, SRV, The Thunderbirds and others regularly. I saw EJ and SRV dozens and dozens of time each.
