sonic1974 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I think I've already posted some of my stuff somewhere, but what the hell, I'll post some of it again. We released an album last year, that's got a Hamer Duotone on it, and a '78 Sunburst. The Duotone is on the first track, most other electric stuff on the tracks is a '78 Sunburst. http://music.cbc.ca/#/artists/The-Sonic-Defense I appreciate any feedback! Thanks. The acoustic strumming is from the Duo-Tone? Did you mic it? Nice stuff, I've always liked your music! Hey man, thanks very much for the compliment and for listening! I should have explained in more detail, no, the strumming part is an old Canadian acoustic, when I say old...it was from 1951, made by Arthur Hansel. The Duo-tone is doing the little fills and the other electric parts on that track.
zenmindbeginner Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Our band from many years back playing Cheap Trick's Need Your Love. Probably around 1984-86 when it was recorded.https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/88221982/Need%20Your%20Lovemasterd%204.mp3How did you achieve that gorgeous drum sound and keep your guitar player from stepping on his chorus pedal (it was the 80's after all)? I must admit that I am not familiar with the tune so I can't comment on how accurate the cover is or not, but I can honestly tell you that is more than rockin'. Sweet bass too! It sounds great and the ending guitar lead stuff was super cool too.I bought a new amp to use with amplitube 3. Analog to digital......it's a cheap setup.http://compusouth.net/music/get.mp3http://compusouth.net/music/nomore.mp3OMG Greg! You finally have a sound that perked my ears up, made me smile and got my body moving! Your new "cheap" set-up serves your playing soooooo much better than the other stuff... the older tones you got detracted from your playing and was a a true impediment to enjoying your stuff. Now your playing rings clear and true! I think you did a killer job on those two tracks and you should be VERY proud of your work and ecstatic about your new recorded tone.

That was recorded as was most of our practice/jam sessions using 3 AKGD310s Mics. One low and centered for the bass drums and toms, one place between the snare and Neal's Amp and one near the toms and my Bass rig. The fourth AKG was for my vocals. This was ran through a 12 channel Yamaha powered board with an output going to a pretty nice cassette deck to record with.I got pretty good at placing the mics and getting the balances but lately I've been digitizing many of the old tapes, riding in the car to work listening to find the best versions of songs. Then I load them into Adobe Audition and using the builtin effects and many of the IK multimedia T-racks CS to "improve" the recordings. Tweaking eq, multi-band compression, some other tweaks, and some noise reduction until I get what I think is a much better recording.Since I haven't been able to play as much because of my fingers I am doing more mixing/mastering of stuff.Even started a word press site about my old band. The name of this band is Poop and that's what they sound like!Just having a bit of fun in what ever way I can. Thanks for the props.

Michael_ Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Both of these are on my T51. It's an absolutely killer guitar. Schaller locking tuners, SD pickups, both humbuckers. There are more details in the video.
mathman Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 ZZ top kick going. Still sloppy but I love this song.https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/88221982/fool%20for%20your%20stockings.mp3
Crimsontider Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 These postings are much more interesting than any popular radio station. Hope the thread continues to grow.Great sound Michael_ . Especially since it is not a professional recording, but you can hear the great tone and playing. Mathman : Maybe you mentioned on another post:What guitar, and what is the neck pup? Is that a Dimarzio HS2? Sounds pro all the way.Sounds like live instruments, what's your studio setup? Did you play other instruments,,Very pleasant and you really have some bright spots on the lead.

Still feeling around logic.I use Ikmultimedia's Amplitube for Amp simulations. In this recording I am using the Jimmy Hendrix JH1200 which is based on a Sunn 1200 amp. This song was using a backing track from http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com. I play bass on my originals.

I also have a similar setup. FL studio, Amplitube (crate 15watt as preamp), but I use VSTI'S for both bass and drums though. While they sound realistic for the most part, the drum backing you have made it sound 99% live, like in a full fledged analog jam session. So you did a great job pulling that off.I need to look up the 84 Proto II, I have forgotten exactly what it looks like. You can tell it's a high end guitar by the tone. Thanks. I'll have my Diablo II when my son finishes college, in the mean time, I'll keep jamming with my MIK Cali with Diablo stock pup's.
serial Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Here's a link to some audio with a Hamer. The Kiss tune's rhythm track is my Studio Custom Electraglide II. Don't remember if the lead is a '61 SG/LP Junior or Guild Bluesbird. Pretty sure it's the Guild, but then part of it sounds like the Jr... Should've written that stuff down, but it was a quick-assed recording for a demo, so not a lot of thought went into it."http://m.reverbnation.com/artist/thatswhatshesaidtheband"
mathman Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Just got Logic Pro X ( I was able to get a refund for my Logic 9 purchase!) I love it.Here is a new version of Fool for your Stockingshttps://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/88221982/Fool%20for%20your%20Stockings%20KP.mp3

What part is not the backing, the guitars and bass? Are you singing? Regardless it sounds good and I know you are having a good time with it. These home computer digital audio work stations have revolutionized everything. The only draw back is a lot of the junk you here in the radio (if you listen) is created by people patching stuff together, and it losses it's analog flow. Nearly all TV commercials are made strictly with DAW's and vsti's.
Crimsontider Posted July 26, 2013 Author Posted July 26, 2013 While this is not at the same standards as mathman, I wanted to post something made with a new amp inside the amp sim Amplitube 3 I just obtained.Made in FL Studio on my PC.Guitar (MIK Cali SS)plugged into sound card (only real instrument)Drums, bass and keyboard parts are tapped out live with a cheap Midi Keyboard running to some virtual instruments in FL Studio.I did not edit in anyway, bad notes, off beats and all!http://compusouth.net/music/2.mp3

Wonder if anyone else on here does that?I will check out the amp store, I am currently using the standard "american tube" that comes with the program. My favorite part about amplitube is the effects, especially if you are using a low wattage preamp between your guitar and computer.
mathman Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Did you buy the Amplitube 3 or just get the free version? The "full" version is on sale till JUly 31st for $99 which is a great price. It includes a lot of amps, effects, and pedals.edited to add a link. Amplitube 3 Promo

After looking, it has a bunch of amps, I especially like the Galium Kruger used with the "Metal" cabs. There is so much to like and I need to experiment around. I had an old copy of the original Amplitube 1 that I loved, I believe it was a free one from someone but I jumped all over Amplitube 3 and bought it after trying it and a few more smaller packages, like Hendrix and such.I am still going straight from a preamp to my sound card's 1/8'jack, so I cannot use it as a stand alone. At some point I am going to have to get a midi connection. Here is what I do. Plug into a 15 watt practice amp, and output to my sound card. The 15 amp is at 1 with everything turned off, just enough to give amplitube a little boost. I sometimes use a little distortion from the 15 watt amp. From what I hear, those small preamp box's with a USB connection are the best. Some people used stomp boxes as a preamp. It sound o.k going straight in, but it seems to work better with a little power up front.Awesome program, the best no doubt. Effects, amps, cabs are vast and not generic at all. I love it.r used with the
mathman Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Amplitube will work with any imput. Just go to the audio/midi setup prefs in the stand alone or set up your DAW to accept the input you are using. I used to use it with my mac's line in until I got a firewire interface.
Crimsontider Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 Amplitube will work with any imput. Just go to the audio/midi setup prefs in the stand alone or set up your DAW to accept the input you are using. I used to use it with my mac's line in until I got a firewire interface. I go to "settings" at the top click on "audio MIDI setup.." And a panel pops up. I can set it to ASIO and my sound card but the the only input at the bottom is MIDI, I cannot find a "line in" or anything that will make it work in stand alone. Using with FL Studio defaults to its setting where i can select my analog input for the one channel the guitar is coming through. It's not a problem, but it would be nice to use without my host. Is there more setting's that I might be missing? Here is a screen shot of the input for standalone
mathman Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Up at the top, the input device is what you want to modify. The midi input is for a foot pedal control.
