Cost of replacing Hamer case for a Miller High Life 6 string...

Hey guys! I had a Hamer Miller High Life 6 string shipped to me couple months back. It arrived, but the case was 'squeezed', or 'squished' in what ever machinery FedEx uses, or from it being handled improperly. Fortunately, the guitar seems ok. The case was literally 'bulging', was very difficult to open that first time, and caused considerable damage along one edge of the case. I was thinking $200 to replace this? I'm not sure if it's considered custom, or 'special order', as the bow-tie shape is unique. Hoping one of you know better. I'm told to shoot high with these types of claims, cause they like to adjust them downward. Thanks for any info/suggestion. I appreciate it.

I would try yelping "luggage repair" in your area. The local shoe/luggage repair guy here in Oakland fixed my Newport case. I'm sure a reputable repair shop could fix your case for far less than two bills.

Approach it as though you have to have a custom replacement made. It's not an off-the-shelf piece, and having one made will be fairly pricey. Get estimates from several different makers (3 or more) and use that as ammunition (you're gonna need it). If they pay your claim and you somehow end up getting to keep the damaged one, see about getting it repaired. Whatever is left over might cover all the dickin' around they'll have you doing.

You ought to be able to send a tracing of the body to a case manufacturer like TKL and get what you need. That is how you get flight cases for non so common guitar shapes.

There is a nice guy at Hamer who might be able to help you get a correct shape case with a logo on it. It may cost big bucks, but it will be right.

I believe it's the same case that Hamer used for the Blitz and Standard guitars.

Woops! Sorry, sure sold fast!

Yep. Kinda like that. Mine is black inside. I'll look again to be sure. Plus I know I've a Blitz case to compare.
