Fender Super Champ XD - new spkr? or something bigger/better

Question

After two plus years, I still love this little amp.

Been wondering if there's a good speaker upgrade?

- or -

Is there something in this vein that is bigger (12 inch?) and better?

Thanks in advance.

That is great support for ideas and options. I did the Ragin' Cajun and built a little stand with a closed back to both angle/project the sound upward and create a de facto "Thiele" type cabinet. never quite got around to experimenting with tube swaps though.

I did this to mine, because a 12 won't fit in the factory combo cabinet. And Brian will cover it in whatever you want.

As a follow-on to that older thread, I did eventually rebias the amp (it was biased VERY cold) and replaced the 12AX7 in addition to the Ragin' Cajun speaker swap. Getting the amp off the floor helps too. This little booger is still chock full of awesome after those changes/upgrades.

Although I posted the links to the previous threads touting the Ragin' Cajun, the few Eminence speakers I've had I thought lacked something so I installed a WGS G10C. My take on the G10C is pretty much what everyone has said about the RC, though in my limited amp vocab I'd just say it gave the amp a wider, more room enveloping sound with a nice openness to it.

According to WGS, when compared to the RC it provides a touch more warmth and depth, but I've never done an A/B.

"the tone cabinet" in mantino Il has 36 speakers set up in subdivided 4-12 cabs (9 of them ),all of the eminence gtr line , 2-3 jensens( pn ? & Blackbird ?) & a couple of webers( not sure which ones I believe one was their take on an alnico jbl d series). IMHO the rajun cajun was the 2nd best sounding of all of them on an a/b test with my alessandro blue tick ,strat & prs mccarty ( the man o war 12 being the best sounding ) .
