You can get a close version of the Hamer Sustain Block bridge from Ed Roman Guitars in Las Vegas.

Supposedly he wbought the remaining ones from Hamer at some point but who inows?

But the are close enough to convert that Blitz with the trem.

Well, I caved and bought the one at Dave's guitars. It's very similar to the color the one I had was, but the body isn't chopped up :) I played that guitar for 5 years before I got a new one, which was an Ibanez 270-DX that I still have. I hope I'm happy with it... 5-9 days for shipping!

Edit: Notice the 'Add to Cart' option is no longer present:

Also, had I known at the time the bridge on my butchered Hamer was worth $200 by itself I wouldn't have sold the guitar AND case for $65.

Welcome. There's a bunch of us with such "if I'd known at the time" stories. Actually, most of us!

I always wonder when I see things like this, is there a way to steam the neck off and build a correct body for it?

Maybe possible, but not feasible?

Too bad, for sure.

I would cleave each side, add a couple "wings", reshape, and paint. But that's off the top of my head.... ^_^

Now that I think about it, I really didn't like the spacing of the strings at the bridge; if you look at the bridge in the original picture, I had spread them out a bit with adjustments; especially the high E and A. And I put a different, more widely-spaced nut on it. And by "I", I mean my uncle, as I watched. So hopefully the Kahler is similarly wide. If not, I'll get used to it.

That one actually looks familiar - was it ever on eBay?

The case is actually worth more than that guitar!

I've seen it too. Don't remember where. The sustain block is worth a lot, isn't it?

If you happen to know who owns it, I'd like to buy it back, actually :)

Ed Roman Guitars has a pretty bad reputation online for some reason. The custom guitars I've seen pictures of look pretty neat. I'd consider ordering one if it weren't for so many bad things said about Ed Roman Guitars being shady.

Well, that's an interesting topic. There are a couple of non-Hamer versions that were made by HFCers in two different runs (the "2FIG" and the "Hamerhead"), then Hamer started making them again with the advent of the Talladega, but of course, that has ceased.

There are threads where the HFCers responsible for the two runs have been asked to do their work again, but it's such a difficult proposition (and the market so small as to render it almost surely unfeasible) that nothing has happened.

I recently picked-up one of the Six-on-a-side Blitzes that originally came with a sustain block bridge. A previous owner put a Kahler on it, but the seller pledged to include the original bridge if he had it. I won't be able to find-out if its in the case for awhile, though.... :(

My intent is to "re-block" it, so count me IN if there's another run made.

There actually is another Blitz bridge: sustainblock tremolo.

Got one on my Zebra Blitz. I just blocked it underneath.

right hand most in this pic

Cool! Want to sell it?

I will not say never. Would have to think hard about it tho.

This one with the sustain block tremolo has been on ebay since forever:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/80s-HAMER-BLITZ-EXPLORA-made-in-USA-/171945744666?hash=item2808c3d91a

it would be around $875 USD shipped.
