WTB 80's Hamer Blitz

Hello All,

WTB an 80's Hamer Blitz with 3 on a side headstock.

Preferences:

- fixed bridge, but I'm open to one with the Kahler bridge if you have the cam screw.

- any color, any condition.

Here's what I used to have, that was a Hamer Blitz before I got it:

Don't worry, *I* didn't do that, I was just a 12-year-old kid that wanted "an electric guitar" and trusted my uncle to find me a good one. He obviously did not. Heh. But I did play it for 5 years before getting a better guitar! Now I want what it was supposed to be for nostalgia. Feel free to message me here with what you have.

Hardtail Blitzes are not easy to find-shame one of the few out there got hacked so badly!

I always wonder when I see things like this, is there a way to steam the neck off and build a correct body for it?

Maybe possible, but not feasible?

Too bad, for sure.

That one actually looks familiar - was it ever on eBay?

The case is actually worth more than that guitar!

I've seen it too. Don't remember where. The sustain block is worth a lot, isn't it?

Looks like an electric guitar Donovan would play :)

You will NEVER find a Blitz hardtail for $600, if you can even find a hardtail one at all.

You will have to find a Kahler one and convert it.

There actually is another Blitz bridge: sustainblock tremolo.

Got one on my Zebra Blitz. I just blocked it underneath.

Not a lot of these out there, in fact, this is the only sustain block Blitz I have seen outside of the original advertisements.

Good luck in your search, I'm afraid the above is not going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

So is "sustain block bridge" the same as the fixed bridge I had in the one I originally posted the pictures of?

Yes, Hamer's fixed bridge was called the Sustain Block - chrome-plated hunk of milled brass. And they're spectacular!

ETA: some photos!

That last one comes from an HFCer's web site showing the difference between the original, shimmed, Hamer bridge (left) and the Sustain Block bridge (right).

And is that a bridge I could order? I just talked to D

Are they for sale after market anywhere?

Well, that's an interesting topic. There are a couple of non-Hamer versions that were made by HFCers in two different runs (the "2FIG" and the "Hamerhead"), then Hamer started making them again with the advent of the Talladega, but of course, that has ceased.

There are threads where the HFCers responsible for the two runs have been asked to do their work again, but it's such a difficult proposition (and the market so small as to render it almost surely unfeasible) that nothing has happened.

Cool! Want to sell it?

I will not say never. Would have to think hard about it tho.

There's one at Dave's guitars. It has Carvin bridge installed.

Edit: I went to the local guitar center and there was a guitar there with a Kahler, and it was much nicer (for me) than a Floyd Rose. So I'm back to strongly considering it. Even though I can see with the closer-up pictures that there are quite a few chips and scratches. But then again, I could pretend that it's "relic'd".
