DrumBob Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Hey guys...I have had a Hamer Phantom on my guitar want list forever. I know there were a couple of models, but the one I want is the same as Mike Wanchic is playing in that ad he did years ago.Can some of you experts fill me in on where to find one and a ballpark price on what they sell for? Thanks.
velorush Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Welcome! That would be very specifically a Hamer Phantom A5, the first iteration (production beginning in 1983). One of the most ergonomic guitars ever. ETA: more information can be found here, and of course in THE BOOK.
DBraz Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 They are indeed great guitars and Velorush is right in that it is a very ergonomic design. It's clincher though is that triplebucker. It's surprising the great array of tones that reside within those winds.
HamStd Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Would this fit the bill? Trem arm in the case. If so, email me at hamstd@gmail.com thanks Peter
velorush Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Would this fit the bill? When am I going to learn to ask the right questions to the right people? BTW:
DrumBob Posted August 21, 2014 Author Posted August 21, 2014 Would this fit the bill? Yellow Phantom A5 bdy frt.jpg Trem arm in the case. If so, email me at hamstd@gmail.com thanks Peter PM sent. Please check for it. Thanks. Bob
velorush Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Bob, not that I have a horse in this race, but [unless something has changed in the last little bit] it is a standing quirk of the Hamer Fan Club that Peter cannot receive PMs. We don't know why; it's just how it is. Best tact is to email him at the address he provided. Hope this helps.
bubs_42 Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Email him, that is why he posts his email. Super Duper Guy to deal with. Man do I have a soft spot for Phantoms and Prototypes.
velorush Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 And hurry! Like Bubs, I too have a soft spot (in my head!) for Phantoms and Prototypes, but also for yellow guitars... That photo is really intriguing! If it had had a sustain block rather than sustain block trem I'd have stepped on you and snatched it already!
