It looks to me like he wants a LP and he has Hamer's to trade. I'd trade a Hamer for a LP but it would have to be something nice. Not the baked maple or laminate rosewood finger board crap. I was looking at the following 2012 Traditional on ebay. It looked like a decent guitar at a decent price. I did some research and found out all the 2012 Traditional's have laminate rosewood fingerboard.

I sold a LP Studio this year and to tell you the truth it was the best sounding 24 3/4 scale guitar I've owned. However everytime I looked at the cheap plastic inlays and the ebony finger board with ridges that looked like it came right out of the planer with no sanding it made me sick. I've owned nicer China made guitars than that Studio I owned. I don't know how they stay in business.

Not only Traditionals. All of them including some Reissues ( if not all of them for that year). If you want to get decent LP do not go above 2006, unless it's R7,8,9 with the exception of 2012

Starting in at some point in 2013, all Traditionals, Standards, and Classics went back to solid rosewood boards.

Looks like this thread has already been hijacked so I'll join in. A buddy of mine is looking at a Bonamassa standard. I believe he said it was a 2012. Does this have the laminate fretboard? I told him yesterday I thought it did. I'd hate to spend over 3k on a guitar and find out it has laminate.

I also think they were using laminate on other years. I went through GC several years ago and the edge of the fretboards were all bumpy. I thought GC must be getting all the blems from Gibson. The GC sales rep saw me checking out all the edges and he told me it was because those were unbound fretboards. He must have seen the, "You're a fucking retard" look I had in my eye and he walked away.

I have a couple of early '90's LP Studios with ebony boards, and they too have the 'ripple cut' ebony fretboards. It doesn't bother me, I just consider it as an example of Gibson's dedication to craftsmanship.:lol: I wish I'd known about the LP Studio you sold, if it was listed here I must've missed it, I like 'em anyway. I know, ebony is scarce, and streakiness is expected nowadays, depending on the price point, but even mine aren't nearly as bad as THIS one...AND it's from 1990! No affiliation, it's been sold anyway, in this case it kinda puts to rest the idea that Gibson dyes or darkens their ebony, or at least used to:

So, now I know how much extra value a Kiefer Sutherland-owned LP Studio has, at least to a motivated buyer...a couple of hundred bucks, at best. This seller had tried to get rid of it before for a $3500 BIN. <_<

I dunno if you can tell if there's a laminated fretboard by removing the nut on the Bonnamassa and checking the headstock end of the fretboard...but short of knocking a chunk out of the binding, or getting sloppy and ripping the wood during a refret, there's no easy way as far as I know.

I understand that some of the 2012 historics had laminated boards, I had a 2012 std premium plus (killer top)

that had one, I believe you could see it if the nut was removed but... however you can contact Gibson

customer service with the serial # and they can tell you. had no problem selling it.

but back to the thread... if the guy is assigning an $1850 value to a Monaco III, I think

he'll be challenged getting something actually valued at that number in trade...
