Just for the record, Jimi Hendrix might get first credit for wah on I Don't Live Today from Are You Experienced. Supposedly, he manipulated the wah with his hand on that one. Clapton used the wah on Disraeli Gears on several tunes, notable Tales of Brave Ulysses(recorded before White Room). And Hendrix used it on Burning of the Midnight Lamp which was recorded in mid-1967 and appeared on a single before being included on Electric Ladyland. Wah is all over the album Axis Bold as Love too.

How's that? Did they reamp the guitar signal through the wah? Sounds like a tall tale to me.

I don't feel like going back to the article but was Trower on there at all? I'd go w/ "Into Money"from him...

Then there was "Sex Machine" by Sly & The Famly Stone, which was blatantly erotic.

I didn't expect to see EVENFLOW in the top 10

You know that song is, was a complete joke to Mike don't you.

Listen to it, then listen to Ace (she).

Mike comps Ace all over it, knowingly, with love and giggles.

Regarding Hendrix and "I Don't Live Today," John McDermott discusses the recording session of February 20, 1967 in "Ultimate Hendrix":

"The group worked on crafting an acceptable basic track first. Once the arrangement and tempo had been settled, Hendrix's focus turned to refining his guitar parts. He used a hand wah-wah unit in this session...Hendrix manipulated the hand unit with skill, incorporating the distinctive tones on to the master tape."

Jeff Beck Group -- I Ain't Superstitious was my first thought and the tasty little wah bit in Hendrix' version

of All Along the Watchtower makes that solo.

And THIS.....In A Gadda Da Vida. :)

Greatest Wah player of all time was Jimi.

One of the best wah solos was Eric Clapton in White room, even though it was only him wah'ing to the beat.

Ever notice that about Clapton?

Jimi got so many expressions out of a wah.
