Blitz or Standard?

Question

There's a guy fairly near to me selling a Blitz and a Standard...£600/$900 each. They're both 80s models. I've been giving some thought to one of these, but would appreciate some help...

The Blitz is blue. Hardtail. 3 a side tuners. Finish is pretty ratty. The Standard is white going on creamy. Large headstock logo, factory fitted Kahler (or similar) locking tremolo.

I'm drawn to the Standard, but would prefer a hardtail; I know I can block down the bridge to render it fixed for the price of a beer, but I guess long term I'd like to rid the guitar of the locking system.

Opinions?

Thanks

Paul

Generally, I would go for the Standard. What's the serial number of the Standard? That could make a difference.

The serial on the 'Standard' is 18543. The seller is describing it as a Blitz Explorer. Hockey stick headstock, solid finish.

I'm away from home at the moment...currently typing this on a phone in my car. what's the difference between a Blitz and a Standard. Someone enlighten me.

The white one is probably an '87 with the first '7' missing from the serial number.

My choice would be the blue with 3+3 and sustain block.

Good luck!

Buy them both!

:)

FWIW - easy way to tell a Blitz from a Standard at first glance is the toggle placement. Sustain block would be cool, but so are hockey-stick Blitzes.

Yup, buy both.
